So you want to change your life, it’s pretty easy the experts say just “visualize your goal” or “think about what you want” or “use the law of attraction to make changes in your life.” The information has been covered in the movie The Secret, talked about on Larry King and Oprah and been the subject of countless articles and books. We keep getting bombarded with the same message-“just think about what you want and watch it magically manifest.” If it’s so simple, then why are so many of us finding ourselves in the same situation we were in 3 months ago or worse yet 3 years ago! If you are still in search for a smoother life, one filled with the amazing career, perfect mate, the healthy bank account and a body free of aches and pains then take heart. The following five keys may just fit the lock you’ve been trying to break.
1. Make It Fun
First and foremost, if you are going to create your life and start a new direction then make your visualization exercises fun. Most of us don’t visualize each day because we are viewing it as work. A friend of mine is an accountant and he was wanting to attract more clients. He started experimenting with different visualization techniques and when he inially started he would visualize that each morning and night he was at his desk and his phone rings or a new client comes in and together he and his client sit down and do business. He said visualizing like this got to be quite boring so he decided to get more creative.
He began to visualize himself at a luai and he had a mai tai in one hand and his other arm wrapped around his lovely wife. His visualizations shaw him captivating the crowd and they are all gathered around him laughing and discussing his views on the new IRS regulations. There is music in the background, and as the hula girls sway in the breeze future clients are flocking to him like investors to Warren Buffet. He adopted this scenario and others like it. He varied the locations, sometimes he was on a yacht, at the beach or even at various fine restaurants around town but the premis was the same, he was surrounded by clients who wanted his service! He made the visualization fun and that helped alter the feeling he had attached to his business. By shifting from boring to fun visualization, he had attracted more clients and aslo enjoyed his visualizations to a greater extent.
2. Center the Body
With successful visualization, you are creating new thought patterns and neuronets in the consciousness mind. The body is controlled by the unconscious mind-if you doubt this consider the last time you consciously had to make your heart beat for any length of time. If you are going to have the conscious mind send messages to the unconscious mind and the unconscious mind send messages to the body, then prior to visualization you would do well to center the body. Take three of four deep centering breaths. Relax the back and shoulders. Make sure you are well hydrated and have gone to the bathroom so no bodily funcitons will distract you from your visualization. Why is this important? You want every ounce of your Life Force energy to be directly flowing toward creating strong energy surrounding your visualization. The energy you are expending in this moment is assisting you in shaping your future experiences. If you are going to spend the time to visualize, make sure you do so with as few bodily distractions as possilbe.
3. 12 minutes a day minimum
You should visualize no less than 2 times a day and at least 4 minutes per visulaization. This time is significant as it gives the mind time to establish a neuronet pattern. If your mind starts wandering and goes off target start again. Initially, this task is much harder than it sounds. I know of many people that boast of doing visualization for 30 minutes or more each week and yet their results may not be any greater than those visualizing for four minutes at a setting. Quality is much better than quantity. You should visualize the first thing in the morning, the last thing at night and somewhere in the middle of the day. It’s much easier to find four minutes for visualization than it is to find a half hour. Many times your daytime visualization can be done while standing in a grocery store line, getting your car washed or when you are stuck in traffic. Four minutes per visulization and 2 times a day is the key. If you miss one morning or day session don’t sweat it, but always find time to visualize each day. If you need any incentive just remember that your visualizations today are helping to shape your experiences at some point in your future.
4. Be In Your Body
This next concept may sound simple, but I think it is a huge problem and failing to understand this principle can lead to years of frustration and confusion. This simple piece of advise can unlock the key to finally reaching some experiences that may have seemed out of reach. For years an associate of mine had desired to write and publish a book. She saw herself writing the book, she saw the book in stores, she saw herself signing autographs. She was watching herself do all these wonderful things and yet for 10 years she kept getting stopped in her tracks…..editor deals fell through, she had problems with illustrators and nothing developed. The problem is if you are seeing yourself, even if that person looks just like you, it isn’t you! In order to visualize you must be IN YOUR BODY. She stopped seeing herself from afar signing a book and instead saw a book being placed 15 inches in front of her. After shifting her visualization to be in her body, she is now a published author. Do you feel the shift? Make sure as you spend your time visualizing what you accomplish that you are not “watching from the bleachers” but instead are in your body experiencing the event you want to occur.
5. Ask For Assistance
What can make visualization so much fun is when others join in. Share your visualization exercises with your friends or families if you think they can be supportive. I know a husband and wife who each spend 8 minutes in the morning doing their visualization. They each spend four minutes visualizing their own success and then they visualize their spouse achieving their goals. Imagine the positive energy that goes forth in the universe when two people are sending energy toward the same experience. You can also call on your higher power for assistance in your visualization. Regardless of what you want to accomplish, know that someone else has also had that goal and successfullly achieved the results you want. Finally, all of us have angels and guides that are here to assist us as well, so ask that their assistance be kind and gentle and be specific about what you want to occur. Many times solutions are presented to us but we can not make the connection in the physical world. When you are visualizing, carry the thought that great opportunities are made known to you so you don’t miss them when they occur in life.
