Northeast Ohio and specifically the greater Cleveland area has an abundance of local Y.M.C.A. branches. You don’t have to think of your local Y.M.C.A. as the place where you like to get sweaty and burn calories anymore. Along with all the wonderful amenities they have for you to enjoy, they also have safe, fun swimming lessons your infant is sure to enjoy as well.
To get your day at the beach with baby underway here are some things to know. Class schedule, costs, session length and focus for infant swim lessons may be slightly different between the branches; however, here is some helpful general information to be aware of before heading to your local Cleveland Y.M.C.A. branch:

Infant (6 mos.- 3 yrs. with parent)
Water orientation class that provides activities that prepare a child to move well, improve strength, flexibility, coordination, and self-confidence in the water.
Shrimp: 6-8 months
Kippers: 9-12 months
Inia: 13-18 months
Perch: 19-36 months”

The infant summer swimming class schedule is usually once a week in the late morning. Lessons are approximately 30 minutes long and can easily be scheduled from home or in person by visiting your local Y.M.C.A. branch. The cost of swim lessons for your baby per year is $180.00 the price of a youth/teen membership plus an additional $420.00 to $660.00 per year for one adult membership. One adult does have to accompany the infant in the water at all times during swimming lessons. You could also go with a family membership ranging from $624.00 to $990.00 per year. Yearly membership fees can be paid monthly and of course membership entitles you to all the amenities your local Y.M.C.A. has to offer.
