In a stunning development today, Paris Hilton was sent back to jail, screaming after the decision, the Associated Press reported.
She was ordered to serve her entire original sentence of 45 days and was carried from the courtroom visibly upset. At one point she yelled for her mother and screamed that it wasn’t fair.
Thursday Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer ordered that Hilton had to appear in court this morning for a hearing on whether she could return to jail or not. Sauer seemed upset that the events of Thursday went along without his consent. He said that he had signed a petition to have Hilton in his courtroom Friday morning. The next morning on his drive to the courtroom he said he heard on the radio that he had approved Hilton’s appearance by telephone rather than in person, which he said wasn’t true.
Hilton did appear in court in person on Friday morning and she looked visibly shaken. She cried throughout the proceedings and was seen mouthing the words “I love you” to her family in the audience.
Superior Court Judge Sauer said that he was annoyed that he was not consulted on Thursday about the release of Hilton.
“I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions. At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home on Kings Road,” Sauer said.
Assistant City Attorney Dan F. Jeffries argued in court that Paris Hilton should be returned to jail and that it was solely the judge’s ruling to make. “Her release after only three days erodes confidence in the judicial system,” Jeffries said.
The judge made it clear throughout the proceedings that he did not receive any documentation of Paris Hilton’s medical condition. He said that on Thursday he wanted evidence of Hilton’s ailment so that he could make a decision on what do do with her. He repeatedly interrupted Hilton’s attorney noting the time and saying that he had still not received any paperwork. The judge also noted that a psychiatrist visited Hilton and he wondered if she had a role in Hilton’s medical condition.
In the end the judge ruled that Hilton will be returned to jail to serve her entire 45-day sentence. She was carried out of the coutroom screaming and crying and escorted to the back of a police cruiser and taken back to Lynnwood County Jail.
