This is an advance guide to using Slate. In this guide I will show you things like inserting an image, inserting the date and time, changing the width and height of an image, and more. If you are new to Slate, please see my beginner’s guide to using Slate. The beginner’s guide will get you started and this guide will help you with the more advance stuff. Open Slate and let it load.
How to Insert an Image in Slate
The first thing I will show you is how to insert an image into Slate. Place your mouse where you want the image to go in your document. Then go to the top of your Slate window and click Insert / Image. When the box opens, locate the image on your computer that you want to use and click Insert. Keep in mind that this is an html document. So when you insert the image, you won’t see it until you view it in a browser. There will be a sheet of paper where the image will be. Save your file and open it in a browser to see your image.
How to Change the Width and Height of an Image in Slate
Highlight the image that you want to change the height and width of. Then go to the top of your window and click Insert / Image Height. Enter the height number in the box. TO change the width, click Insert / Image Width. Change the width in the box.
How to Insert the Date and Time in Slate
You can insert the date and time into your document. You can also insert just the date or just the time. To insert the date and time, place your mouse where you want it to be inserted. Go to the top of your Slate window and click Insert / Date and Time. It automatically inserts the date and time where your mouse is. To insert just the date, place your mouse where you want it to go. Then click Insert / Date. DO the same thing to insert the time. Go to the top of your window and click Insert / Time.
How to Insert Quick Text in Slate
Slate has a thing called Quick Text. What that is, is pretext that you can click and it will automatically place it in your document. To see the quick text available in Slate, click Insert / Quick Text. There you will see all of the sayings. To insert the Quick Text, place your mouse where you want to insert it. Then click Insert / Quick Text / and click on the one that you want to insert.
How to Do a Word Count in Slate
Before you do a word count, you will need to highlight your text. Use your mouse to highlight your text or click Edit / Select All to highlight it. Then go to the top of your window and click Tools / Word Count. A box will pop up and show you your word count. Click OK on the box to close it.
