During my six months of chemotherapy I lost all my hair, including my eyebrows. They are just now starting to come back in and it’s like they have a mind of their own! They’re wild and wooly and curly and just way out of control. I could probably hide Rhode Island in these bushy things.
I kept my eyebrows plucked very thin for years, but now have a unibrow and I’m not really sure how to tame it. So I turned to some eyebrow experts for help.
I did a quick web search and was amazed at the results that were returned. I never knew eyebrows got so much attention, and that so many people have written books solely about eyebrows … and some folks have even built very lucrative careers revolving around the eyebrow!
The first link I hit was for the “Eyebrow King” Damone Roberts. He is quite the eyebrow guru in Hollywood and around the world. He has his own website, newsletter, salon, eyebrow products, and eyebrows tools. He is considered to be the most gifted artist in the eyebrow business. So I sent him an email asking for some free tips. I couldn’t believe it when his office actually replied the next day. They recommended some of his products (of course) and offered to send me a step by step guide that Damone has developed to help create perfectly eyebrows. I hope they send a set of shears with the guide, because I do not think normal everyday tweezers are going to be a match for the unibrow!
My next stop on the web was the site of Anastasia Soare. She is referred to as the definitive brow expert. She has built her reputation as a top beauty maven by working magic on the brows of Hollywood celebrities. She owns a salon in Beverly Hills and has her own eyebrows product, eyebrows kits, and eyebrow tools. Unlike Damone Roberts, Anastasia doesn’t limit herself to the eyebrow. She also has products for the eyes, face and lips. I emailed her also, but have yet to get a reply.
Next I come across a really good website written by an “eyebrow expert” by the name of Elke. She works on the eyebrows of some of the top models and has some great tips listed on her website. She says that amazing eyebrows can literally change the bone structure of your face and give you a mini face lift. Talk about pressure to do a job right!
I read through all of her suggestions but every time I look in the mirror and see the unibrow, I get a bit queasy and intimidated. The tweezers gleam in my shaky hand and I can’t make myself make that first pluck! I think I just really want someone to come and take care of this for me. I’m not sure where to start. What if Itake off too much brow … I don’t want to be one of those people who paint on their eyebrows and always have to worry whether they have smudged off or if their eyebrows are running down their face in hot weather.
Ahh, isn’t life grand. A while back I was whining because I didn’t have any eyebrows (or lashes or hair anywhere for that matter). Now I’m whining because I have a unibrow. I guess some folks can never be happy huh? If anyone is an eyebrow expert out there and wants a challenge, I’ll be here waiting for you!
