According to the Associated Press, the killing of Benoit ‘s wife and son followed by Benoit’s suicide may have been triggered by strong discussion about the care of their mentally retarded 7 year old son.
Benoit´s child suffered of a rare condition known as Fragile X Syndrome. Boys with the syndrome may have large testes (macroorchidism), prognathism, hypotonia and autism, and a characteristic but variable face with large ears, long face, high-arched palate, and malocclusion. Additional abnormalities may include lordosis, heart defect, pectus excavatum, flat feet, shortening of the tubular bones of the hands, and joint laxity.
As it is already known Beloit strangled his wife suffocated their child and hanged himself with a weight-machine cable during the past weekend. The three corpses were discovered on Monday after the WWE asked authorities to check on Benoit´s state under the suspicion that something may had happened.
Authorities were initially checking if steroids were involved in the murder suicide crime scene. Steroids are known to cause outburst of rage and there could be the possibility of that happening in this case. However, as published by AP, WWE has clarified that steroids could not be related to Benoit´s family deaths.
Investigators believe they ought to continue pursuing the steroid involvement hypothesis since Beloit may have received home deliveries from Signature Pharmacy and MedXLife.com, which sold steroids, human growth hormone and testosterone on the Internet.
Anabolic steroids are controversial because of their use in competitive sports and their associated side effects. Anabolic steroids are considered “controlled substances” in a few countries, including the United States, where they are listed as Schedule III in the Controlled Substances Act, as well as Canada, The United Kingdom, Australia, Argentina and Brazil, which also have laws controlling their use and distribution. Anabolic steroids are banned by all major sports bodies including the IOC, FIFA , UEFA, the NHL, the MLB, the NBA and the NFL.
Although steroids are used to get high they can also get people depressed. Actually, a shift between highly effusive and depressive states is possible. Combine this with possible family issues (such as a kid with mental problem) and you may have an explosive mix that may have triggered such behaviors such a as a murder suicide.
Nothing in clear until now. The WWE insists that steroids were not involved while authorities are pursuing a deeper course of action on this steroid issue. Unfortunately three deaths are going unsolved at least for the reasons of why this happened.
