This California native has lived and worked in the three biggest show biz town in the country – Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and New York City.
Brian Kent was born and raised in Loos Angeles . Never one to hide or shy away Brian Kent has always been openly himself. Although he sang frequently as a child, it was the sports arena where Brian first made his mark as a figure skater. Brian was even preparing for competition in the National Figure Skating Championships when the call for his musical talents was to strong for him to ignore. Moving to Las Vegas Brian performed in shows up and down the strip including a stint at the new MGM Grand. It was being a part of a show called Naked Boys Singing where he indeed performed in the nude that Brian learned he could do pretty much anything. Also on Brian’s performance resume’ are Cruise ship tours. Brian says that the good thing about performing on a cruise ship is that if you mess something up you can blame it on the ship.
A desire to live in New York City finally won out and Brian traveled across the country to make his home in the Big Apple where he has found some success as a pop and dance pop singer. In November of 2006 Brian released the video for his single “I’m Not Crazy”. The video became a big hit tipping the charts at number one for 15 weeks on the MTV network LOGO’s musical countdown show “The Click List”.
Earlier this year Brian Kent released his first full length album “Breathe Life”. The album of 12 songs – eleven tracks plus a bonus track – contains a number of dance tunes that bring back the days of disco. Also included on the album is a beautiful ballad “Everything Changes”, as dance mix cover rendition of the Journey hit “Don’t Stop Believin'”, and two original songs that will appear in the new Tori Spelling movie “Kiss the Bride” (due to be released early next year). The bonus track is a dance mix version of “Everything Changes”.
Brian brings his sense of openness to his music; lip syncing is not allowed in his view. When fans attend one of his shows they hear Brian just as they would on the album. Brian said that his shows should reflect the album and vice versa, that is why the band and background vocals may be recorded but Brian is not. Years ago there was a commercial for Memorex cassette tapes which touted that listeners could not tell the difference when a Memorex tape was used. They would ask “Is it live or is it Memorex?”.. For Brian Kent the answer is that it is always live.
This young singer has much to offer the world of music, fans of anything from George Michael to Take That will especially want to hear what Brian has to say.
