Buffalo Wild Wings Grill and Bar was founded in the early 1980’s by fellow New Yorkers James Disbrow and Scott Lowery. After moving to the Midwest, the duo discovered that good chicken wings were hard to find. So, they decided to open up their own specialty restaurant and Buffalo Wild Wings was born.
My husband and I frequent the BWWs near our home in west suburban Illinois. With over twenty television sets in all shapes and sizes, it’s the perfect locale to catch any sporting event. In fact, we enjoyed the electric ambiance back in 2005 when our beloved White Sox won the World Series! Every T.V. was set to the game and the surround sound was impeccable. And with a full service bar area and expansive menu, BWWs promotes the ideal casual hangout with a fantastic mixture of atmosphere and camaraderie.
But Buffalo Wild Wings is not just for adults. The restaurant is a great meeting place, where teens and college kids can gather and enjoy finger food and fountain drinks in a fun-filled venue. Reasonable menu prices, plastic plates and utensils and free soda refills make this eatery a comfortable escape. Families with young children are also welcome to this kid-friendly, no frills, laid back restaurant. Video games, trivia, live sportscasts and great food epitomize the BWW experience.
Now…..let’s talk about the food! We always start our meal with the chili con queso dip which is a delicious warm blend of tangy chili and spicy cheese served with light and airy tortilla chips and a side of chunky salsa. It’s reasonably priced and serves around four people.
Next, we order wings and lots of them! Wings are available in many options. You can order the traditional bone-in wings or boneless wings as well. You can even chose “naked” wings which are actually skinless tenders. We usually opt for the regular wings with our favorite sauces like Honey BBQ or Caribbean Jerk. Other fabulous marinades include: Spicy Garlic, Asian Zing, Parmesan Garlic, Mango Habanero and Blazin. Watch out…..those last two mentioned are super hot! Don’t forget a side order of potato discs doused in warm cheese for a perfect addition to your wing selection. These are also a great item for the kids.
For a truly sensational salad you must try the chicken topped greens generously loaded with wings spun in your favorite sauce. This overflowing favorite is a meal in itself. And for dessert, I never leave Buffalo Wild Wings without ordering the apple pie ala mode which consists of warm delectable apples baked in a flaky, crispy crust and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Buffalo Wild Wings deserves applause for creating a truly family-friendly eatery complete with a cheerful environment, affordable prices and flavorful food. For menus and prices visit their website at www.buffalowildwings.com.
