Organic Groceries for Sale
When I visited my new local natural foods store, Native Roots Market, I saw many organic food products that I have not been able to find at other grocery stores. Some organic food products I saw at Native Roots Market had never even occurred to me before. When I think organic food, the first thing that comes to mind is fruits and vegetables.
Perhaps like me, you have never thought of buying organic toaster pastries (for the brand name buyers among you, the popular brand name for toaster pastries is Pop Tarts). Native Roots Market has organic toaster pastries for sale. A quick look at the ingredients in the toaster pastries confirmed that they were vegetarian. Many people do not realize that most toaster pastries contain gelatin, which is made from an animal’s connective tissue.
I even found organic non-pareil capers for sale. I began making mental notes for products I would definitely come back for in the future.
Locally Produced Groceries for Sale
Many locally produced products are available in Native Roots Market. These local products range from produce to honey to various nut butters. Unfortunately, much of the produce available from local farms is not organic.
Fair Trade Goods for Sale
At Native Roots Market, I saw various blends of fair trade coffee and tea for sale. I also found fair trade chocolate chips and baking cocoa. I continued making mental notes for products I would definitely come back for in the future.
Encouragement of Canvas Grocery Tote Bags
Many people bring their own reusable canvas grocery bags to carry their groceries home rather than using plastic or paper bags provided by the store. When I use my canvas grocery bags at my local Super Target, I sometimes get praise, but more often I receive a puzzled look. I expect the cashier to tell me that they do not charge for their plastic bags, so why am I bothering? I am bothering because I care about the environment.
At Native Roots Market, reusable canvas shopping bags are for sale in case you do not already own some. The prominent placement of the canvas shopping bags also serve to remind shoppers that it is good for the environment to use them.
The first time I stopped in at Native Roots Market, I had not planned to go shopping. I did not have my canvas bags with me. Rather than asking for a bag, I simply carried the few items I had purchased out of the store the old, old-fashioned way. I used my hands.
