At this second a Democrat Senator, Tom Lantos of California, is addressing the cameras before General Petraeus begins to give testimony on Iraq, the long anticipated Iraq Report. And before the general has spoken yet a single word, he has been called a liar by numerous Congressional Democrats as well as assorted other political hacks, as well as Moveon.org, in their full page ad in todays New York Times. And aren’t Democrats the ones who are always bitchin’ at me on AC about my “sounding angry,” and my use of the term “liar?”
I’m a little pissed that I had to drop $1.25 plus tax for the New York Times at my local 7-11. I did so in order that I could actually peruse with my own eyes the ad Moveon.org purchased. Man, it’s a beauty. The top half of the page is a black and white picture of Petraeus in Class “A” uniform, his chest adorned with dozens of ribbons and medals, most especially the Combat Infantry Badge. But I digress. . .
Below the picture of the general is the headline “General Petraeus or General Betray Us? Cooking the Books for the White House.” Catchy, ain’t it?
Rest assured dear readers! Do not feel you need to drop $1.25 for your own copy of this rag, for I shall, right here, right now, recount to you the gist of the text of this advertisement. Ready?
How’s that? Short, sweet, to the point, and best of all, 100% accurate (my summation, NOT the Moveon ad).
Where do some people get such nerve? How can he be called a liar BEFORE he testifies, UNDER OATH?
I know, I know . . . You’re “patriots!” Your civil disobedience and philosophical wrangling are all for the betterment of our nation.
Ya know what else? Anyone who adheres to the gist of the Moveon.org ad, obviously written and printed well before today’s testimony, is a disingenuous hack. How can one tell a lie before they have testified under oath? All last week Congressional Dems were flapping their gums.
“Petraeus is a Bush toady! Petraeus is going to give the report the Administration ORDERED him to present,” and other such tripe. It sounds as if the Left do not like the results of the report, a report that has yet to be presented. We will know by the end of the day now, won’t we?
So, I expect to see some comments here about how disappointed ya’ll are with the rhetoric of some of your leaders. If I don’t see such comments, do I take it to mean that you SUPPORT or AGREE WITH the Moveon.org ad? You AGREE with the calling of such an honorable and distinguished person as General Petraeus, a liar? You AGREE with these events, especially in the knowledge that early in 2007 nearly all Democrat Congressional leaders expressed 100% confidence in the General’s honesty, veracity and abilities?
Ahhh . . . , I hate to be a little snit here (well, not really) but hows about if you AGREE with the Moveon ad, and you agree with the Dem mouthpieces on this issue, and if you have ever taken me to task for my “name calling” I expect an apology. Or are you just a lyin’ hypocrite?
I can’t believe how many people seem to display poor house training. It’s absolutely amazing!
