Can We Visit the Dead in Our Dreams?

by wet bin

Have you ever experienced dreams that seemed so real that you were surprised to find out they were only dreams? Many people have experienced dreams involving dead loved ones, and they are certain their dreams were real. Is it possible to visit the dead in our dreams? Those who claim to have a psychic connection to the other side say it’s possible to visit dead love ones in dreams. I’ve had dreams of dead loved ones that seemed like actual visits, and they were so clear and appeared so real that I won’t discount the possibility. Although it doesn’t seem rational, who am I to say it isn’t possible? No one has all of the answers. There are many mysteries of life, and the possibility of a visit with the dead through a dream is a mystery that can never be proven or disproved.

A Visit With an Uncle

My great uncle Raymond was a real character. He was an old bachelor, and he had a personality that wasn’t exactly pleasant. When I was a child my friends were afraid to accompany me when I visited my grandmother’s house where he lived since he seemed mean and somewhat intimidating. He often walked around mumbling and grumbling, and instead of saying hello he greeted me by saying shut-up. I knew he was kidding in his own strange way, but others didn’t understand this sort of teasing. I took what he said with a grain of salt, and I understood him. I was one of only a few people who really cared for Raymond, and I missed his unique personality when he passed away.

The only dream I ever had of Raymond seemed very real, and I felt as if the dream was an actual visit from beyond. In the dream I was walking toward a building, and I was surprised to see my uncle Raymond coming through the doorway. Someone was with him in the shadows, but I couldn’t make out who they were.

I recall being overcome with joy when I recognized him. He was dressed in the same gray work clothes he always wore, and he looked healthy, happy, and better than I ever remembered. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we stood outside facing each other. He seemed to communicate without speaking, and although he didn’t say a word, I understood his thoughts. I responded by saying, “You’ve missed me, haven’t you?”, and with tears of joy in his eyes, he slowly shook his head to say yes.

I was suddenly whisked back into reality when I awoke to discover I had been dreaming. Although I knew this visit was only a dream, a very strange feeling lingered within. This dream was unlike any other dream I have ever experienced, and it seemed more like an actual visit than a figment of my memory and my imagination.

A Hug From Grandma

I was very close to my grandmother, and when she passed away I missed her terribly. When I was a child, my grandma lived only a block from my home, and I visited her daily at either her home or mine. Each day she walked over to my house for an afternoon cup of coffee with my mother, we shopped together on a weekly basis, and ate Sunday meals together. I enjoyed walking to her house, and my visits with grandma will forever remain one of my fondest childhood memories. My grandmother passed away when I was about 20 years old, and I’ve kept her memory alive by thinking of her and talking about her often.

I rarely had dreams involving my grandmother, but I’ve had several dreams of her home. In my dreams I’m usually standing outside and never have the pleasure of seeing her – until I had a dream that seemed like an actual visit. I was at some sort of gathering with a number of people that I didn’t pay attention to, and much to my surprise, my grandmother was there. She looked somewhat younger, happy, and very healthy, and she was wearing the same type of clothing that she always wore – a basic house dress. She told me she loved me, and she gave me a big hug that I’ll never forget. It felt like a real hug, and even if the dream wasn’t an actual visit with my grandmother, I was thankful for the experience, and I’ll never forget it.
