When I found out about Carol’s Daughter Candy Paint Lip Gloss last year I wasn’t interested in buying a tube. I just assumed it would be heavy because it looked very creamy, and none of the colors really excited me.
But one day I was at a Carol’s Daughter counter and one of the Candy Paint Lip Glosses caught my eye, so on impulse I decided to buy a tube in the This Is Me shade. ‘This Is Me’ is a beige and rose color that looks like a neutral colored gloss.
Although it does tone down some of the pink tones in my lips, it doesn’t really alter the color of my lips and looks nearly clear, hence the name ‘This Is Me’. I like this shade because it’s really easy to throw on whenever I’m just running errands or if it’s late in the day and I don’t want to look in a mirror to reapply lipstick or a darker shade of lip gloss.
The Carol’s Daughter This Is Me lip gloss comes in a small plastic tube that has a slanted tip that allows you to apply it directly to your lips. The Candy Paint gloss is actually natural, containing ingredients like castor seed, grape seed, sunflower seed, and safflower seed oils, shea butter, aloe and a small amount of peppermint oil which gives it a very slight tingle.
I really like that the Carol’s Daughter Candy Paint is full of these natural ingredients. It goes on really smoothly and creamy. Normally it makes my lips feel quite soft and moisturized, but because of all of the natural oils I kind of expected this product to help soften my lips whenever they become chapped and I have to say that it doesn’t. Instead of penetrating the dry skin and making it feel softer the Candy Paint just sits on top of it.
I also don’t like how heavy the Carol’s Daughter gloss feels. I’ve been using it since last fall and the heaviness doesn’t really bother me since the weather has been cold, but in the summer I know I won’t be using this gloss as often because my lips will feel heavy and smothered. It’s thicker than using Vaseline.
The Carol’s Daughter Candy Paint Lip Gloss in the This Is Me shade is a product that I’m indifferent to. I use it often because the nude shade compliments most colors that I wear and the applicator tip is really convenient to use. Yet I’m not quite sure if I’d run out and purchase a new tube when I run out, especially since it feels so heavy.
Although the neutral shade would look great on mostly everyone it’s not a product that really excites me, take it or leave it. 3 out of 5 stars.
