Contact lenses are truly a blessing. Having had to wear glasses for several years before I started wearing contact lenses, I can really appreciate them. I have now worn soft contact lenses for almost 10 years and have tried out many different contact lenses solutions. However, by far, my favorite is one variety called Clear Care. It is quite different from most saline contact lenses solutions and does an excellent job of leaving my contact lenses feeling fresh and clean every time.
Most saline and multipurpose solutions available for contact lenses wearers instruct the user to just squirt a little solution into each cup of the lenses holder, place the lenses in the cups, seal them with their provided lids, and put them back in when needed. Clear Care takes a very different approach. Advertised as the “Clinically Proven #1 in Comfort”, Clear Care bottles usually come with an interesting contact lenses holder unlike anything sold by other companies. This little container is cylindrical shaped and has a screw top lid. Attached to the lid is an insert which fits into the cylinder and on the insert is two cups, one for the right contact lenses and one for the left contacts lenses. The cups holding the lenses are mesh-plastic, allowing liquid to flow into the cups. To use Clear Care, one must first fill the cylinder with Clear Care solution up to the marked line, then place the contact lenses in the holder cups. Next, the lid (and thus the cups) is place on the cylinder and screwed on, immersing the lenses in the solution within the cylinder. It all sounds relatively complicated, but it is really not at all that difficult.
The contact lenses must remain in this solution for a minimum of 6 hours. Do not take the lenses out and wear them before 6 hours is up, as the solution will be very, very painful and dangerous to your eyes. The general concept behind how Clear Care works (from what I can tell )is that it bubbles hydrogen peroxide through the lenses during those 6 hours, and all the hydrogen peroxide has dissipated by the end of 6 hours, leaving the lenses clean and fine to wear.
I have found that Clear Care really does leave lenses feeling fresh and clean. The bubbling action of the solution is really neat to watch, at least for the first few times, and leaving them in for at least 6 hours usually is not a hassle (I just place them in the solution overnight, giving them plenty of time to “soak”). Definitely look up Clear Care if you are considering a new contact lenses solution
