While leaves will not be changing color in the state nor will temperatures drop down near freezing this week, Florida will be getting its first taste of autumn this weekend as a cold front moving through the Midwest and toward the East Coast will push through the crux of Florida and drop high temperatures in much of the state below the 90s.
According to the Weather Channel Online, temperatures this week will be dropping throughout the state, including the tourist mecca of Central Florida, where there was no escaping from the same hot weather that has been breaking records in New England and the Midwest.
Orlando, where amusement parks such as Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and Sea World are located, will be seeing morning temperatures drop into the mid to high 60s for morning lows during Friday, Saturday and Sunday (October 12-14th) and keep high temperatures in only the low to mid 80s during the same period. Morning lows will return to the area 70s by Monday.
The Weather Channel Online predicts that at Cape Canaveral, where NASA’s Space Shuttle is launched and tours of Kennedy Space Center are had, temperatures during the end of this week and into the weekend will drop a little. Morning lows should stay in the high 60s and around 70 degrees through Saturday and then return to the middle 70s by Sunday. Highs from Friday on through the week after should stay in the low 80s.
In Tampa, where the roller coasters and animals of Busch Gardens Africa roar and the aquatic life of the Florida Aquarium swim, temperatures will also be taking a drop over this weekend according to Weather Channel Online. Thursday, October 11th, will see the area’s first 60s-degree morning lows for the first time in months; From then on through Saturday, October 13th, temperatures will stay in the mid to high 60s for lows and reach into the mid 80s during this weekend and on through next week.
The sandy, white beaches of Clearwater, located only minutes west of the tourist-stop rich Interstate-4, will be sure to draw beachgoers, Gulf-coast beaches as the Weather Channel Online forecasts balmy morning lows that will get down into the mid-to-high 60s from Thursday through Sunday morning this weekend, with highs on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday reaching the mid 80s.
Weather during the end of this week and into the next week should also be drier, reducing some of the soupy humidity that has been burdening those outdoors over the summer and up through the past week or two. This is only the beginning of Florida’s cooler weather, as the state’s cold fronts usually begin packing more powerful (and appreciably colder) punches as October turns into November.
