In another article I went over some of the comic book adaptations coming to theaters soon. Most of those comic book adaptations have either been completed, are currently filming or they are just about to start production. This won’t be the final crop of comic book adaptations though, there will be even more. These are some of the comic book adaptations that haven’t begun production yet but are slated to happen at some point.
Y the Last Man
Y the Last Man has been one of the most unique and interesting comic books of the last several years and hopefully the comic book adaptation will be just as good. In Y the Last Man all the men get wiped from the planet, except for one. Yorick is the last surviving male and he and his friends want to keep him alive because Yorick is the only chance of keeping civilization alive. There are some groups out there that want Yorick dead though.
Nick Fury is a secret agent for the group called S. H. I. E. L. D. There are two different Nick Furies, one in the regular Marvel Universe and one in the Ultimate Universe version. It is unknown which one the comic book adaptation will be about but the Ultimate Nick Fury looks just Like Samuel L. Jackson so I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to hire him for the comic book adaptation.
Iron Fist is about Danny Rand, a superhero that is a martial arts specialist. Iron Fist could be a pretty intriguing superhero movie because they could make a martial arts movie, which would make it much different from any other comic book adaptation.
Superman: Man of Steel
The recent Superman comic book adaptation got mixed reviews. Rumor is they might go back to the drawing board for the next comic book adaptation. For Superman: Man of Steel instead of continuing from where the last Superman left off the writers might start the movie by telling Superman’s origin.
The Flash comic book adaptation is one of those movies that has been kicked around for a while and I think it has even had a few drafts written but a good script is still trying to be made. I’m not sure that the Flash comic book adaptation will be in the popularity range of Superman or Batman but it should do better than lower comic book movies like Punisher, Daredevil and Hulk.
I refuse to accept Catwoman as a comic book adaptation and most comic book fans hated Elektra so Hollywood hasn’t really had any good superhero movies starring a woman. Wonder Woman will hopefully finally be that good superhero movie for women but it has also hit a snag in the writing process.
Shazam is one of the lesser known DC Comics but he’s always been a personal favorite of mine. It also doesn’t hurt that last week it was announced that Dwayne “don’t call me The Rock” Johnson was cast in the movie as Black Adam.
Now that Spiderman, Batman and Superman have been brought back to the big screen Captain America is probably the one really huge comic book character due for a comic book adaptation. Out of all the comic book adaptations on this list Captain America is one of two that I would consider a must see.
