After last night’s one hour-long Jon and Kate Plus 8 special, the family finds itself at the center of much water cooler gossip again today. However, though the news of Jon and Kate’s divorce papers (a legal separation, in fact) and the decision to continue filming their TLC show was expected to be the “big news,” but much of today’s talk is about Crooked Houses and Crooked House prices.
The Story Behind Crooked Houses
Business appears to be booming today for Kids Crooked House, a Maine-based business with nationwide delivery. According to the company’s website, ripe with hits after last night’s publicity, Crooked House was founded by cousins Jeff and Glen, focused on getting their kids out to play in fun playhouses, modeled after the “wonky” and “off-kilter” playhouses seen in old cartoons. Begun in a family barn, Kids Crooked Houses now ship from one of four locations nationwide, with a headquarters still in Maine.
Crooked House Designs & Crooked House Prices
Viewers of Jon and Kate Plus 8 got to see first hand the magic of Crooked Houses, from the design of the children’s custom playhouses to through their installation and the kids’ first experiences playing in them. Jon and Kate’s brood purchased four custom crooked houses, with each house starting from $5,000, according to the company’s website. However, Crooked House prices aren’t always that high–they range from an original playhouse at just $1249, up through the more expensive custom designed playhouses. Crooked House prices depend, of course, on what you are looking for and what you are willing to spend.
Other Notes about Crooked House Pricing
If a Crooked House is in your future, don’t expect quite the fanfare that accompanied the company’s arrival to Jon & Kate’s Pennsylvania home. Typical crooked houses come ready for you to assemble, and require at least two adults to get the job done. Shipping can cost between $250 and $500 depending on location. If a Crooked House is in your future, be sure to build that in to your final cost.
If the water cooler gossip turned away from Jon and Kate’s divorce papers and separation and to crooked houses, you may be pleased to know that this high quality, fun playhouses aren’t reserved for the rich and famous. Crooked House prices aren’t substantially higher than other wooden playhouses, and offer a unique look that other’s don’t. Thanks to the publicity from Jon and Kate’s reality show, expect to see more Crooked Houses than ever before.
