Depoe Bay, Oregon is a cozy town in between Lincoln City and Newport that was incorporated in 1973. They return almost with an over whelming success rate, clean the fish and send the fishermen and women home with fresh catch of the day to grace their meal tables. Many families take an outing together to enjoy a day of mist on their faces, fresh salt air and the ultimate joy of reeling in their seafood.
An unusual almost equal males and females live in this town enjoying its beauty, fresh air and friendly neighbors. All ages, races and ethnicity are part of the township population.
Fleet of Flowers is a Memorial Day event to pay homage to the Veterans who have given the ultimate sacrifice and to those who locally have succumbed to the fervor of the ocean’ s call and perished at sea. It is a solemn ceremony where the fishing boats, all decorated with boughs of flowers and wreaths go out and form a circle in the Pacific Ocean about 1/4 of a mile. Once every ship is in place the flowers and wreaths are released into the sea. This is just one of the many wonderful and honorable tributes Depoe Bay supports.
