I am very flighty when it comes to my cosmetics. I like to try different brands and never seem to be 100% satisfied with anything. I generally only wear eyeliner and mascara most of the time because I hate the feel and look of most foundations… That is until I picked up a bottle of Dior’s Pure Light Foundation.
I was mostly happy with Clinique’s Almost Makeup, and loved the satiny feel of The Body Shop’s Ultra Smooth Foundation, but not happy enough to remain loyal to either. The search continued. I found Dior’s Pure Light in a Duty Free Shop last week and decided to give it a go. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I adore lots of things by Dior, but hate others. Their Show Mascara is excellent, while their Manicure Set missed the mark entirely. I figured I had a 50-50 chance of being happy. For about 33 USD I was willing to try it.
I settled on Dior’s color number 200 since I am pretty light complected. After rubbing some of the samplers on the inside of my wrist, this one looked like a perfect match. After getting home and using it on my face, I found I had picked the right one indeed. Almost all foundations will claim to glide on smoothly and look natural, but few of them deliver on that promise. I am here to tell you that Dior totally nailed it with the Pure Light line.
Dior Pure Light Foundation goes on so light that I do not know it is there. I can’t feel it on my skin at all. It hasn’t got that dreaded clown effect either. This foundation is sheer coverage that smooths out your skin color and enhances it ever so slightly rather than painting over it like so many cheaper cosmetics tend to do.
My face tends to be one of those problem canvases in that parts are oily and other other parts are very dry. Dior Pure Light Foundation is oil-free so it does not exacerbate my oily zones at all. Nor does it dry out my dry zones any more than they already are. I put on Estee Lauder’s Future Perfect Facial Moisturizer and the Dior Pure Light Foundation goes on smoothly over that leaving hardly a flaw on my face at all.
We are in a bit of a rainy season right now in Sweden, so this foundation by Dior was really put to the test. Would it run all over the place in the rain? No. It does not. It is sheer enough that even if your face does get wet, there are no streaks at all to show you were even wearing foundation. Wow.
This ultra-light fluid foundation catches & reflects light waves – Truth.
Leaves your complexion glows radiantly – Truth. This goes along with the whole catching light waves thang. Great for pictures.
Contains volatile silicones & corrective pigments – Very subtle, though, which is a good thing.
Covers up the imperfections & evens out skin tone – Truth. Dior did a very good job here.
Enriched with purified water to let skin breathe & keep its natural balance – Truth. Like I said earlier, it isn’t heavy at all.
Your complexion looks flawless, natural & soft all day long – Truth again. It does last all day without touch ups.
I rarely run across a product that does everything it claims to do, not even from Dior. Imagine my glee when this Dior Pure Light Foundation did just that. It lives up to everything Dior claims. I think my days of experimenting with foundations is over. I just may be loyal to a cosmetic after all.
