A offline freelancing is only competing with people in their city or surrounding counties. But, an online freelancer is competing with thousand of people and people in other countries.

Every freelancer needs a portfolio of their work. Online freelancing makes it easier to provide a portfolio because an online freelancer can make a website that advertises their services. This allows customer to review your work. To be successful in freelancing it really helps to have a website but it’s not a mandatory requirement. Some clients will ask for some sample work so it’s important to have some samples on hand.
Freelancing and Affiliate Marketing
Many freelancers will use affiliate marketing as an extra stream of income. Affiliate marketing is selling of others products for commissions. There is a lot of writing in the internet marketing field so this works out for someone that’s a freelance writer. Affiliate can provide a lucrative stream of income but be cautious of the companies that you are promoting. If you wouldn’t buy or use a product then you might not want to sell the product to a customer. Many affiliate marketers are successful at selling a product by providing helpful information.
Private Clients
Many freelancers prefer to deal with private clients. There is a market for private companies or clients in freelancing. Also, there are a large amount of private companies that use the internet to find a freelancer. The key is to produce quality work and the work will be plentiful. There are a lot of scams on the internet that involves paying to receive jobs. These are not real freelance opportunities because a reputable company wouldn’t charge for freelance jobs. There are enough freelance jobs available without paying for job leads. If you answer many of the online freelancing job ads then you will be able to pick out the scams. You should be able to pick out phony freelancing jobs online and offline. If you visit freelancing forums or network with other freelancers then they should lead you to reputable freelancing opportunities. Many of the freelancing forums will provide reviews of companies and will spread the word of a company that’s scamming people.
