Recently when we were spring cleaning our house, we ran across three olds cell phones. One is fairly recent. It merely got dropped in the washer. It know wors, coming on when the button is pushed. Gladlyt, a friend of mine had recently told me of a way to get some good out of these cell phones that were merely laying around the house. YOu can actually donate your cell phone to organizations that will take the value of the phone and donate to different charities.
One of the websites involved in this charity fund raiser is called www.wirelessfundraiser.com . They estimate that at any given time, there are close to 500 million cells phones just sitting around homes and business. As I mentionted, we have three our house. One can see how quickly a few cell phones per house can add up to 500 million across the United States.
So how does this program work? You first must go to the web site and chose a charity that you would like the profits from the cell of your phone , to go to. There is a long list of different causes, so everyone should be able to find one that interests them. Once you have clicked on your choice a drop down menu appears narrowing your choice. For example, if I clicked on education as the broader category, and one choice in the drop dcown menu was Texas School for the Blind and the Deaf.
YOu also can go to the chose your organization tab. If you know of an agency not listed, or are trying to perhaps raise money for a youth trip somewhere, you can add your organization here. There is a short questionarre to be filled out before your choice is added.
The next step asks for your address and basic information. You can then print a free shipping label for your box or padded envelope that you send the phone in. AFter they have received your phone, you will receive a thank you letter from the company stating how much was donated to your charity of choice.
An added benefit is that if you decide to use this as a fundraiser for a school or church, there is an online tracker took included that will list how many donations your group has received and what the dollar amount is. The site even offers help publicizing the fundraiser by providing press releases, business flyers, and thank you notes.
As we all know our environment needs all the help it can get. Cell phones that end up in trashheaps and land fills, can eventually do harm to our environment. by dumping chemcials, waster computer parts, some with silicon, and plstics that will not degrade for hundreds of years. Thg cell phones that you donate are revamped, and given to either poor people around the United States and the world, or to areas where new cell phone markets are developing and there is presently limited communication availibitiy.
I believe this is an excellent program and plan to send my extra cell phone to them this week. what better way to getr rid of your cell phone and help someone at the same time.
