Fabregas to remain at Arsenal
In an off season that has already seen one of the biggest soccer stars in the world leave the Arsenal Gunners, it will come as good news to hear that Cesc Fabregas will not be leaving the club anytime soon.
Fabregas has turned down a potential move to Premera Liga champions Real Madrid.
While Fabregas said that he was flattered to have had Real interested in him and he admitted that both sides had held talks, he said that he wants to stay with Arsenal for a long time to come.
He also said that he hopes that Arsenal can find a way to get Samuel Eto’o from FC Barcelona, as he would be an ideal replacement for Henry.
Fabregas also provided some insight into the Gunners managerial situation when he said that he felt that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would sign a new deal with the team soon. Fabregas said that he would not stay with the team without Wenger, so his staying makes it likely that Wenger will remain with the team.
Saviola Joins Real Madrid
While Real Madrid was not able to pry Fabregas away from Arsenal, they did not come away from the week empty handed. The former FC Barcelona player was officially introduced today at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.
Saviola said that he had no feelings about leaving Barcelona to play with bitter rivals Real Madrid. He said that it was only the next move in his professional career and it was nothing personal.
Beckham Arrives in US
The future is now for US soccer and Major League Soccer. Yesterday soccer superstar David Beckham arrived in the United States and today he was introduced as the newest player for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Beckham’s first game will be July 21st against former Premier League rival Chelsea FC.
Blades Lose in Court
Once again Sheffield United was denied an appeal of punishments given to West Ham United over their illegal signing of Carols Tevez. Sheffield United wanted to appeal this suspension because docking West Ham points would have led to West Ham being demoted and Sheffield United being allowed to stay in the Premier League.
Man U Boss Says Arsenal Better Off
Manchester United Boss Sir Alex Ferguson said recently that he believes that the Arsenal Gunners are better off without superstar Thierry Henry.
Ferguson thought it was the right time for Henry’s departure and he said that he is convinced the Gunners will still finish in the top four of the Premier League next season.
