There just does not seem to be any of my favorite shows on the top ten this year.
Well, ok, maybe one. And that would be Grey’s Anatomy.
I love this show. I have from the beginning. From the very first episode – “A Hard Day’s Night”
(March 27, 2005.) To the latest and last episode of season 3 when George fails his exams.
I think the cast of characters come together well. They portray a genuine like/love for each other (even despite the controversies between T.R Knight and Isaiah Washington in which Washington was alleged to have called one of the cast members a faggot when he was arguing with Patrick Dempsey)
Meredith Grey – (Ellen Pompeo) seems to be a cool and collected intern, always trying to make the right choices and never really knowing if she has. Hopelessly in love with Derek and trying to do the best she can with the circumstances at hand. But she has flaws. (As we all do) It’s not like she ever had any guidance from her self absorbed mother. And her mother was not one that you learned from when it comes to relationships. Or anything for that matter.
Dr. Derek Shepherd – (Patrick Dempsey) Is not only Dr. McDreamy but he is an intelligent, witty and quick to act surgeon. He is very genuine in his caring for patients and that is a great skill to have in today’s world. He seems to want to be with Meredith, but at the same time he seems to not fully know what he wants out of life. I guess we all are a bit like that. Never knowing and always guessing at certain things…he keeps much to himself. Kinda Dr. Mc Secrets I think.
George O’Malley – (T.R. Knight) How does one explain George? He is an incredible Dr. to be. If he could just work through that incredible anxiety that he has.
Anyone remember the elevator scene? In which he is advised on how to do a surgery with Alex in the elevator? George came shining through while Alex seemed to fizzle under the pressure.
And remember Dr. Bailey? If he was able to calm her down during labor and delivery…………………(“stop looking at my va-jay-jay!”) Then I think that makes anyone a remarkable Dr.!
Christina Yang – (Sandra Oh) She is a bit harder for me to take a liking to. I think in the scheme of things she has a good heart – but her underlying motives make me a bit nervous.
I really questioned her loyalty when Burke had hurt his hand. I understand not wanting to get close to someone..But she is a Dr. With that comes a bit of caring – and also bedside manner. Which I think she does not have too much of. And she was a bit too quick to rat him out when the heat was on. But at the same time, she is always there for Meredith when times are tough. I really felt bad for her when Burke left her at the altar this past season. But she was becoming what her wanted and was not staying “true” to herself. I think she will do ok without him.
Dr. Richard Webber – (James Pickens Jr.) What can I say about this man? I love him!
I love his heart and the way he looks after Meredith. Even if he is “not her father” he cares for her and has seen her grow up. He is in some ways the dad she never had.
Although I do not condone anybody having an affair – I can see the kindness way beyond the mistakes he has made. When you work with people up to 20 hours a day, 7 days a week…It’s easy to get close to those you are working with.
Isobel “Izzie” Stevens – (Katherine Heigl) Another character I love. She has made many mistakes in her life, but her dedication time and time again warms me. I am thrilled that she was able to put herself through school, without the help from anyone.
She has shown many times over just what a good friend should be. From sticking up for Alex – despite his arrogance, And yes, even helping Denny by cutting his LVAD wire….I was so hoping that her and Denny would be able to get together for the long term though.
Who did not cry when Denny died? My daughter and I sobbed like babies.
We are still scarred by that tragedy.. (Losing My Religion, May 15, 2006).
Alex – (Justin Chambers) Alex I think showed that he is not the greatest surgeon, for the long run. But I think that he would make a great gynecologist as he is very loving when it comes to nurturing, he just does not like to show it. Despite his hard shell, I think he is a very warm and gentle human. I was hoping that there would be a bit of a romance between him and Ava/Jane Doe. But, apparently she was married and it was just not meant to be right now. Who knows? Maybe in the near future?
Dr. Bailey- (Chandra Wilson) Dr. Bailey….she is a pistol. She has a stern appearance but she has a great capacity for getting things done when needed. She is a hard to please woman at times, and she really knows how to run a tight ship and does not take no for an answer. But yet, she is still
vulnerable when it comes to those interns! I have seen bits and pieces of her soft spot. She has been taken a back a few times when it comes to being a mom and being a Dr. But I think things are shaping up nicely for her. She is a remarkable woman. And kudos to her for being able to balance both.
Dr. Callie Torres – (Sara Ramírez) Is Georges wife. Don’t ask me how that one happened. But it did. I honestly do not like her too much. Something about her bugs me. Am not sure what it is really, but it could be the way George is always intimidated around her. Makes me think she can be a bit of a spoiled brat if she does not get her own way. I just do not really see these guys as being long term. I can understand how jealous she can be though, considering she feels like she has to compete with Izzy.
Dr. Preston Burke – (Isaiah Washington) Nice guy, but I don’t know how to take him. I can’t quite figure out what he wants from Christine or anybody else for that matter. He seems genuine in his profession, but he also comes off as snotty at times and rather distant. He is however, a great surgeon. And this proves to be an asset to the hospital. Am glad he won’t be back this season though. I think we can do without him.
So, all in all, that is the cast. Plus and minus a few.
Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) will be leaving it seems. She will be on the new show Private Practice instead of Grey’s. This show I watched and I must say, I liked it. I am kind of partial to Tim Daly though. He’s a hottie in his own right. I think this show will do ok in the scheme of things.
As I mentioned earlier, Dr. Burke will be leaving this season as his contract has not been renewed.
Dr. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) will be back again this season. Don’t know how to take him yet. He seems really arrogant.
Dr. Lexie Grey – (Chyler Leigh) is the newest kid on the block and apparently, she is Meredith’s younger half sister. I really do not know anything about her character though. Will be interested in how this relationship will shape up between the two. I am sure there will be much tension between the two though.
So, what will the 4th season hold for all of us Grey’s fans? Well, I have heard rumors that the Grey’s Gods are going to be throwing another male into the mix of things to create some competition for Dr. Sheppard and Dr. Sloan. The kids will all be residents now, except for George – who will still be an intern as he will be repeating his internship at Seattle Grace. And I have heard that two new interns will be arriving on the set.
Other then that – not much has been told..I guess we will all just have to sit back and wait to see what happens. I can pretty much guess though, that it will be another great season of Grey’s Anatomy.
The season premiere of Grey’s Anatomy is set for Thursday, September 27, at 9 p.m. I know where I will be…How bout you?
