Week 6 in the NFL did not produce a lot of great fantasy football value at the quarterback position last week. However, The Sports Watchers was pretty much right on the money predicting the top players at quarterback last week. Picking Tom Brady may or may not have been obvious, but Derek Anderson and Brian Griese were not palpable fantasy football selections, and our pick of Carson Palmer turned out to be a good fantasy pick as well.
In Week 7 of fantasy football, the predictions are a little easier with six teams returning to the field of play after a bye week in Week 6. Three of my picks are going to be extremely obvious, and I have one fantasy football sleeper for you as well. The match-ups in fantasy football Week 7 are very favorable for these guys and make them easy Week 7 picks.
Without further delay, here are you Week 7 fantasy football rankings:
1. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons
Drew Brees finally had a “Drew Brees” type of week in Week 6. In Week 7, the prediction is that everybody will jump on his bandwagon. Now, I am not so sure that Drew Brees and the Saints are all the way back, but what I am sure of is that the Atlanta Falcons are not good at defending against the pass. They gave up a career number of first half passing yards to Eli Manning and the New York Giants, and I do not see any reason why Brees cannot do the same thing against them. So Brees is my number one Week 7 fantasy football pick at the quarterback position (Just please don’t screw me this time like you have done me all season Mr. Brees!).
2. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys vs. Minnesota Vikings
Expect Tony Romo to bounce back after 2 less than stellar weeks of quarterback play. The Minnesota Vikings suck at defending the pass, as was evident when Brian Griese had a career day and when Devin Hester ran the only route that he is capable of running and the Vikings still managed to let him get open. The Cowboys will not be able to run the ball at all, so this means Romo will be slinging it from the opening play. Put Romo at the top of your Week 7 fantasy football rankings as he will put up major fantasy points.
3. Tom Brady, New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins
This is an obvious pick. The Dolphins should be able to stop the running game of a Patriots team that is decimated at the running back position. So just like in Week 6, Brady will be forced to throw the ball a lot more, which means that he will probably go for another 3 or 4 touchdown passes this week against a Miami Dolphins’ defense that is letting any quarterback and every quarterback score on them. I hope that this game will not get too ugly too fast, so that Brady can put up a ton of yardage to go with his touchdown passes.
4. Jon Kitna, Detroit Lions vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Welcome back Kitna! We missed him in Week 6. Jon has been one of the best-valued fantasy picks of the season. He did not go too early in fantasy drafts and he was not worth too much in salary cap leagues, so for the fifth or sixth valued quarterback in the pre-season he has played well beyond his potential. Watch Kitna exhibit some wonderful quarterback play against the Bucs in Week 7 of Fantasy Football, as Mike Martz usually draws up a good game plan against Cover 2 defenses.
