The Oklahoma Sooners look like they are the class of the Big 12 so far this season but after that the rest of the Big 12 looks up for grabs. Are Nebraska and Texas as good as their preseason ranking? Can Texas Tech ever beat Texas or Oklahoma? Can Missouri win the North Division? Here are the five players in the Big 12 that will have the most impact on the Big 12 conference.
Chase Daniel, Missouri Tigers
The Missouri Tigers play in the weaker Big 12 division. Missouri will not have to deal with Texas and Oklahoma in the standings, just Nebraska. The leader of this Tigers team is the quarterback Chase Daniel. Chase Daniel is second in the Big 12 in passing. In that division Missouri may be able to lose a game or two and still win the division but the quarterback has to make sure he doesn’t throw away the games they should win.
Colt McCoy, Texas Longhorns
The Longhorns’ running back Jamaal Charles is probably the best player on the team; Charles currently leads the Big 12 in rushing. I think Jamaal Charles is a given on most nights though. The key to the Texas becoming a top ten like they were supposed to be is how well Colt McCoy plays. Right now the Texas quarterback is only 8th in passing in the Big 12 and has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns.
Graham Harrell, Texas Tech Red Raiders
The Texas Tech Red Raiders are always an offensive minded team so it should be no surprise that their quarterback is vital to their club. Texas Tech has no problem running up the score on the bottom half of the Big 12 but if Texas Tech is ever going to compete for a Big 12 title then Graham Harrell will have to be able to score against Texas and Oklahoma.
Marlon Lucky, Nebraska Cornhuskers
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how important Marlon Lucky is to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In week one Marlon Lucky rushed for 233 yards and Nebraska won by 42. In week two Marlon Lucky rushed for 90 yards and Nebraska only won by three. In week three Marlon Lucky managed just 33 yards and Nebraska lost.
Stephen McGee, Texas A&M Aggies
Like Texas Tech the Aggies are also trying to prove their team is worthy of being considered with Texas and Oklahoma. The quarterback Stephen McGee leads the Texas A&M football team. McGee is the only player in the Big 12 that has more than 200 yards rushing and passing. Last year McGee also led the nation in interception percentage. McGee is going to need to continue that kind of play if they expect to beat the top teams in the Big 12.
