With 4th of July fast approaching we often find ourselves wondering what our plans are going to be. In The Hampton’s, Long Island, NY there are plenty of events all weekend long to keep us entertained. From the nightlife to fireworks and parades, there is something for everyone. So finish your hot dog, take a quick jump in the pool and head out these great 4th of July events.
Two concerts that you should know about are The Wallflowers, and Joe Cocker. On July 4th at 8:30 the Wallflowers will take the stage at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center. Tickets range from $80 – $140 and should be purchased in advance. The very next night (July 5th) at the WHB Performing Arts Center, rock legend Joe Cocker will take the stage. This will be a small intimate performance for such a well known musician. Tickets are $250 which includes a pre-show cocktail party and VIP seating, or $100-$200 for all other seats, and should also be purchased in advance. For both shows you can contact the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center at 631-288-1500. The Center is located at 76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach. These are great all American musicians to help celebrate Fourth of July.
Main Street Southampton will once again be the home of the annual Forth of July parade. So come early and grab a spot along Main Street to catch all the excitement. The festivities should start around 11. This is a great event for children, families, and even pets.
Summertime is also a great time for arts, crafts, and shopping. There is a summer craft fair on Sunday, July 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Hampton Bays Elementary School, (72 Ponquogue Avenue, Hampton Bays). It’s sponsored by the Hampton Bays High School Thespian Society. Another craft fair is The East Hampton Arts Festival. This fair will be held at the American Legion East Hampton Post in Amagansett. The event and parking are both free to the public. This festival is an excellent way to see what talents the people of the Hampton’s have. This even was awarded a Top 100 Fine Art Show ranking in the country. This is a great opportunity to meet artists from the Hamptons as well as from all over the country. The media of art ranges from photography, sculpture, jewelry, glass, paint and lots more. This is a great chance to add you’re your collection, or just get out and meet friends and family for a great 4th of July event.
There will be more shopping opportunities at the Jumble Sale at 159 Main Street in Southampton. Vendors will set up on the lawn from 9am to 2pm on July 5th. This is an annual event with a good turnout every year and is sure to fill your shopping itch this independence day.
There will be a gala for the Halsey Homestead in Southampton from 6-8pm on July 4th. This is a unique way to celebrate our nation’s birthday. The Halsey Homestead is a 1680 historic farm house with an herb garden and an apple orchard, and colonial re-enactors. The 4th of July event will feature music, food and drinks, to reserve a ticket call 631-283-2494.
And what Fourth of July celebration would be complete without the bright lights in the sky? Fireworks are a 4th of July staple and in the Hamptons there is no skimping on quality. Grucci is household name in fireworks and are providing the entertainment this July fourth. Stars over Montauk will begin at 9:15 July 4th so get to the beach and enjoy the show. On July 5th the North Sea Fire Dept. will sponsor fireworks at the Water Mill Bay.
There is plenty to do this Independence Day on the East End. The Hampton’s main attraction is its natural beauty. Enjoy a day on the ocean, a backyard bb-q, a stroll through Main Street, or a picnic in a park. If nightlife is more of your pleasure, you will find lots of nightlife focused on the holiday as well. Celebrate safely, and enjoy all that America has to offer.
