The television is the main source of entertainment during some kids summer breaks. The sky could be a bright, cloudless blue, the sun shining down invitingly for a great day of play. Yet the kid’s eyes still remain on the television. What can a parent do to get their kids interested in doing during the summer besides the television?
Go to the park. The park is full of fun activities for kids. Other kids, sidewalks, and playgrounds offer loads of fun. Bring a kite to fly, pack a picnic. A day at the park could be a day full of family fun.

Make some cash. There are loads of ways kids can use their time to earn some cash for all of their needs and wants. Start a lawn mowing service, babysitting, having a yard sale and lemonade stands are just some of the ways this could work. Kids have the imagination to turn their hobby into a business venture.
Community Events. Search the newspaper for local concerts and fairs. They are held all of the time, so it won’t be difficult to locate one. Some are free, but some may have an entry free.
Go camping. Camping can be done anywhere, from your back yard to a state park. Roasting marshmallows and singing campfire songs around the fire add to the enjoyment of being outdoors, away from civilization. The night sky is clearer in the wilderness, perfect for star gazing.
