Usually when I think about Gateway computers, I don’t really think about powerful gaming abilities. I usually start to think about a computer that is reliable, but yet, not exciting. This is probably because any Gateway computer I’ve ever seen has usually been in a educational or work related enviornment, and we all know that neither of those two are very cohesive to extreme amounts of fun and entertainment. This is why when I saw one of Gateway’s newest desktop computers, I was utterly floored. It’s because this computer has some of the coolest features, and one of the greatest processors available. I am talking about the Gateway Desktop with Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600, Model: FX8020.
This computer has so many features that it would take a novel to explain them all, however there are a couple of features that are totally worth mentioning. One of these features is how the computer actually works. It uses the Intel Core 2 Quad processor Q6600 with 4…yes, I said FOUR…processing cores. You also get a 1066MHz fronside bus, 8MB L2 cache and a total of 2.4GHz processor speed per core. That is a heck of a lot of power! You will be able to play your video games like you never thought would be possible. But what else makes this computer the perfect media companion?
Well, you get to use the Intel Advanced Digital Media Boost, which actually accelerates the execution of Streaming SIMD Extension (SSE). Okay, now I probably lost most of you with the above, so basically what this system does is actually boost your computers performance when your play video, audio, images and photo processors. Also, you get to enjoy the Intel Viiv technology. Basically what this does is enhance all of your digital entertainment. This means that whether you’re watching a movie, playing a game or listening to music, it is going to be so incredibly smooth and crisp you won’t believe your eyes (or your ears).
For those of you who are serious computer “geeks,” you will probably scream whenever you read the next feature. This Gateway desktop uses the Intel Virtualization Technology, which basically means that you can run more than one operating system on the computer. Imagine the possibilities this can give you. But, how can this computer do that? Well, with an ATA II hard drive that has 500GB, 16MB of cache and a total rpm of 7200, it seems slightly more possible now. Moving on from the inside of the computer to the outside. There is a 9-in-1 digital media reader that supports all of your main media components. Some of them include Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memeory Sick (as well as the PRO version) and the xD-Picture Card – just to name a few.
Connecting to the Internet also has never been easier. You have a built-in 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet LAN with RJ-45 connector. You also get the convience of having a V.92 high-speed modem. Also, you have a total of 7 USB 2.0 ports that are available in the front as well as in the rear of the computer. And you also have 3 IEEE 1394 FireWire interfaces to use. This computer is made for those who are serious about their digital lives.
If you’re looking for a computer that will expand and grow as you do, than this Gateway is the perfect CPU. And with the new Window’s Vista Operating System (Home Premium Edition), you will be able to run all of your programs in a more streamlined and simple format. It’s strange for me to say all of these features belong to a Gateway, however, it is true. And I have to be honest when I say that this is one of the nicest and technologically advanced personal desktop computers out there. Definitely go out and look at this one, you’ll be shocked it’s a Gateway.
