Cell phones are constantly evolving. It was only twenty years ago that we saw people walking around with portable phones the size of 12-inch sneakers. The incredible evolution of the cell phone has seen the device become smaller and smaller. A lot of these cell phone have become smaller while incorporating some of the latest technology. Still, there are those out there who crave something even smaller and do not care about having a ton of little gadgets included. Rumor has it that a smaller cell phone is being made, but there has yet to be proof until now.
Gizmodo is a popular tech site that brings us some of the latest invention updates. They recently did an update stating that they had some top secret information passed along to them. An undisclosed company decided that it would be in their best interests to pass on the development of one of their latest projects. This project turned out to be the rumor that everyone has been hearing about.
It finally appears as if a company has developed a cell phone that will be the size of a pen. In fact, the cell phone will look like a pen and might even be able to write like a pen. The technology incorporated into the cell phone is pretty basic, but also advanced in that it had to be made smaller. What you see in the picture provided is two small circles on the side of the pen. Reportedly, these two small circles are what the earpiece and receiver actually are going to be.
Speculation has run rampant that this is a photoshopped picture. Gizmodo believes it is not and is sticking by their stance. This leads me to believe that this is the real deal because Gizmodo is one of the most popular and respected tech sites out there. The entire concept is something that has been only a dream for the past couple of year, but is also something that has elicited a lot of excitement among everyone.
There have actually been cell phone concepts designed before. The difference between this pen design and those is that this pen will be the smallest one made to date. One negative thing about this product is that it supposedly is a work in progress and is not yet finished. This most likely means that the phone is several years from actually hitting the market.
In my honest opinion, I feel as if the cell phone will become more of a novelty amongst people. The idea of having to hold up a pen to my ear and mouth in order to talk will make me feel rather ridiculous. Plus, it would probably be incredibly hard and uncomfortable to hold the pen without losing control of it more often than you would like. However, I still believe the idea is rather cool and am excited to see it when it finally hits the market. I am also interested in seeing if any of you out there think this is a great idea. Let me know!
