Three years ago my husband got me interested in golf, and now we are both addicted. He has all of the tools and gadgets that come with the game of golf and I am tired of always using his items, so I have started to buy my own.
We always have fun browsing through the golf equipment in our local Sports Authority, where I found my own golf cleaning brush. This comes blister packed and is called Golf Day 2-Way Cleaning Brush.
The Golf Day 2-Way Cleaning Brush measures about 6 1/2 inches tall, and is a slender tool with a plastic handle. It was available in pink or black, but I chose black. It is model number GD489. It’s pretty basic, no frills or advertising on the package, it simply reads “Keep your golf equipment clean!”
The brush, like it’s name implies, features two different brushes. One brush is made of metal and looks similar to the metal brushes that one would use to clean their barbecue grill. The opposite side has a softer nylon bristles. The hard wire bristles work well for cleaning dried on dirt and grass from my golf irons, while the nylon bristles are a bit more gentle and work great for cleaning my woods and hybrids. At the end of the 2-Way Cleaning Brush is a plastic clip so I can easily attach this handy tool to my golf bag. It’s hardly noticeable, yet ready when I need it.
Using The 2-Way Brush
Myy husband explained that when dirt, grass or other debris accumulates on the head of the club, it can get deep into the grooves and actually change the trajectory of the ball, throwing off my hits and my game. If I just take a few seconds in between hits to scrub the head of my clubs with these different brushes, they easily remove all of the dirt and dried on grass, making my clubs look almost new again. I have not had any problems with the wire brush scratching my club heads, which is something I was initially concerned about.
Not only does the brass bristle brush work great to clean the dirt out of the grooves in my clubs, it also works to clean the dirt from the spikes on my Nike golf shoes! The softer brush cleans the leather part of my shoes, so this really is quite a versatile brush! I always hated putting my golf shoes in the trunk of my car when they were so dirty, but now I don’t have to worry about it! The 2-Way Cleaning Brush easily unclips from my bag for such a time. Pretty clever, huh?
Since I have been cleaning my golf clubs with the Golf Day 2-Way Cleaning Brush, I have fewer missed and longer shots from the fairway. Using my chipper when it’s clean also makes for more accurate shots. This tool is only a few bucks, there is not much to loose, but a lot to gain, especially if you are as competitive with your game of golf as I am! A great little tool.
