For years I had long, straight hair, and when I was participating in sports, it was easy to get it out of my eyes simply by putting it in a quick pony tail. However, now my hair is shorter than it has ever been, falling halfway between my ears and shoulders, and it’s too short to pull into a pony tail.
I also have bangs to worry about, and the sides of my hair are feathered backward in the style that is so popular today. While I love my hairstyle, it does present a problem when it comes to pulling it back off of my face and out of my eyes. This became especially crucial when my husband and I paid for a seasonal family membership at a local golf course. It’s located in the Matanuska Valley here in Alaska, a place that is known for having a lot of wind. The last time we played golf, I could not even see what I was doing half of the time, because my hair was blowing in my face and I could not see! Talk about frustrating.
Last summer I purchased those cloth like 2 inch wide headbands, the stretchy type, and tried using that to keep my hair out of my face, but it didn’t work well for my hair. As stated, my hair is fine and thin, and those would clump up under my hair and look unsightly. We are participating in a charity golf tournament this weekend, and I vowed to find an attractive hair product that would look nice in my hair, as well as keep my hair out of my eyes. I found exactly what I was looking for at my local WalMart store.
WalMart carries a lot of hair products made by Goody, and there were several that looked like they would work, so I had to narrow it down to which I felt was the most attractive. What I ended up with is Goody’s “StayPut Hold” hairbands, in two colors: black and dark brown.
The Goody Colour Collection StayPut Hold headband measures 8 3/4″ when laying flat, of course double this for the total length, since it’s in the shape of one continuous circle. It is a slim 3/4″ wide.
The top layer looks like a lacy piece of nylon fabric, that has a shirred look to it. The backside of the headband consists of a narrower piece of black elastic, 1/2″ wide, and it seems to be sewn into the top portion in five rows, and the “threads” that connect the two pieces feel like rubber bands. Goody refers to these as the treads. There is a small white tag on the inside of the headband that reads “Goody StayPut TM”.
The inside of the hang tag has a short description of the product, which reads: Goody Colour Collection is a specially formulated line of hair accessories in milti-dimentsional “low light” and “high light” shades designed to blend in with your luminous hair color. And now you can get the same subtle glamour with Stay Put Hold. Matching tones and hidden treads make the style that’s all you, last all day long”.
From the first time I tried the Goody StayPut Hold headband on, I have been thrilled! My hair is a dark blonde color, and the dark brown band looks fabulous in my hair. It holds my long side bangs and the rest of my hair behind my ears, and out of my face and eyes!
Even in a strong wind, this headband holds up and performs well for me. I like it so much that I occasionally wear it around the house and even when going out for the evening. Since it pulls my hair back behind my ears, I am able to showcase those fancy earrings I own but rarely wear, because they can’t be seen. They get hidden behind my hair!
The Goody StayPut headband is also extremely comfortable to wear. I cannot wear a hard plastic headband, nor can I wear those sun visor hats that have the headband built in, they hurt my head and give me a headache every time. The Goody product is wonderfully easy on the head and actually feels good when I am wearing it!
I would recommend the Goody StayPut Hold headband for any kind of athlete, with short or even shoulder length hair. These are very inexpensive, I bought the package of two for only $3.98.
