Harry Potter, it’s a name that stirs the imagination. If you’re a fan of the books or just the movies, you’ll be happy to know that there are places online you can go to enjoy everything about your favorite wizard.
Fan sites are a dime a dozen on the net. You’ve got movie fan sites where people go to bash or praise the film and filmmakers, you’ve got book fan sites, fan fiction sites. Actors, actresses, authors, and even designers have fan sites. It’s all just fun and games. Sometimes, you have to wonder if these people just have too much time on their hands. But then again, some of the fan sites bring up some interesting points about the titles in question. You can learn things you wouldn’t normally find out from watching the film, listening to a filmmaker’s audio commentary, or interviews with the people who made the film, novel or product.
Recently, Harry Potter has been getting more press than ever before, due to the upcoming release of the new film, Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix. Fan sites are buzzing. Online stores are getting hits like crazy.
Fan sites
Unified Hogwarts
A website in which you can have some expansive roleplaying games, based on the Harry Potter books. It’s an unusual site. I’m not much for browsing, but I too have recently grown interested in all things Harry Potter. It’s a great site for anyone who like storytelling, but they want people who are specifically good at roleplaying. This site is dedicated to getting a better understanding of the Hogarts world. Don’t sign up unless you really know your stuff. They don’t ask for much. I don’t think there’s a dollar sign written across the entire site. They just want someone who will commit to their site. After reading everything I could about Unified Hogarts, I wasn’t ready to make such a commitment.
Harry Potter – Boards
A site that offers message boards to help fans better understand their wizard world. Characters and stories are fleshed out in great detail with each board. If you don’t want a lot of cross people telling you what an idiot you are, you’d best pick up a book or watch and re-watch the movies before joining this board.
Three-Tasks.com
This is a fan site dedicated to Ron, Hermione, and Harry. The movies are really the main attraction for these fans. They can’t wait for the new movie. There’s not a lot of activities available to keep you occupied. I found my research to be boring, so I’m sure it won’t be too much for hardcore fans.
Potter Incantatem
Perfect for Latin American fans of Harry Potter. It’s a shame that there weren’t more English sites with so much great things for fans. There’s a store, galleries of pictures, message boards, and maybe even games. I really didn’t get that far in my research. I’m not much of a linguist.
Potterish in English
Here’s a great site with a lot to offer. You can enjoy this site in several different languages. You can check out the newest Potter news, read some great fan fiction, join in the forums, and see some nice pictures in the galleries.
Potter Mania
Harry Potter fan site in Bulgarian. Needless to say, I didn’t get much further than the first page. Nice layout of pictures.
Castle Hogarts
This great site offers fun and games with nice animation. Play Battleships, Brainiac, Eggs, Tetris, Wack-A-Beast in the games section of the site. View some fan art; some isn’t all that impressive, some is very good. Contribute to the discussion in the forum. Check out information about author, J.K. Rowling.
Harry Potter 7
Another Bulgarian Harry Potter fan site. Nice animation.
Severus Snape Fanpage
A site dedicated to the character of Severus Snape, this plain fan site offers a lot to explore. You can visit Severus’ Dungeon. You can get interactive with the character, annoy him with fan mail. There’s no limit what you can do on this site as long as its got something to do with Severus Snape.
