If you dislike Kate Gosselin from the reality TV show “Jon and Kate Plus 8“, maybe it’s because you have a lot in common with her. It’s a natural human emotion to hate what reminds us of ourselves. Here’s what I mean:
You’re a nag.
Just like Kate Gosselin, you nag your spouse about everything. ‘”You never pull your weight around here! Don’t let the kids stay up late! Your hair is a mess!'” Sound familiar? When you see Kate doing the same thing to her spouse, you are reminded of your own ways. But, instead of getting upset with yourself, you get mad at her instead.
Every week, you march to the mall to see what’s on sale. After all, you don’t want to be out of touch. You want to be in the now. Even if it means overspending and going into debt, you are willing to purchase an item that will bolster up your image. Isn’t this exactly what Kate Gosselin likes to do? She’s a fashionista in the worse way. You two have a lot in common.
You use your children.
You know that your great Aunt will give you money as long as your children visit her twice a year. So once in December and once in Spring, you dress them up for a long visit with Auntie Mae. However, someone how you justify this behavior away. Yet, the idea of Kate Gosselin parading her kids in front of TV cameras enrages you. Aren’t you both doing the same thing? The only difference is that Kate is getting paid millions while you are only getting paid dollars.
You don’t appreciate your spouse.
Poor Jon. This sentiment is heard in waves across America. Kate just doesn’t appreciate him. Well, you don’t appreciate your spouse either. No matter how hard he tries, just like Jon, he can never do anything right. He only gets the thumbs up if he is perfect. Isn’t that how control mongers treat other people?
You don’t know when it’s time to quit.
The latest thing everyone is saying about Kate is that she should shut down her reality TV show and go back to being a regular mom. It’s for the welfare of her kids. Yet, Kate doesn’t seem to be getting the message. A new season of “Jon and Kate Plus 8” is airing to everyone’s surprise. Are you so different from her? How many times in your life have you missed the message that something was over. You didn’t quit. Oh no – you kept going until the **it hit the fan.
So, what have we learned today? We have learned that we all have a little bit of Kate Gosselin in us. The only difference is that she is on TV. So, when she’s acting up and being inappropriate, EVERYONE can see it. Aren’t you glad that no cameras are in your house?
