No dairy, no eggs, no honey, no hydrogenated oils, no cholesterol, no preservatives, no artificial ingredients or refined sugars – what’s left? An awesome cookie that will fool anyone from knowing it is kosher, vegetarian and vegan. For most of you this sounds gross however it is far from the truth. If you are addicted to chocolate cookies however feel that you have to stay away from “the second love of your life”, fear no longer there is a cookie that turns heads. It is a cookie that tastes great that even your little ones will want to take it to school in his/her lunch box.
The best chocolate cookie in the galaxy is called Double Chocolate Decadence Cookie, the name speaks for itself. Yes, it is a natural foods store cookie and was created by a California Corporation in 1995 called Alternative Baking Company, Inc. The goal of the company is to provide gourmet cookies for the meatless eaters of the world. Therefore, the company uses only organic flour, organic sugar, as well as other natural premium ingredients. Even though these cookies are sold all over the place in natural health food stores, the cookies are created in small batches by hand. That means that the company really does take the time to assure the quality of each cookie that you purchase.
Trust me; if you see these cookies in the natural foods store you will be amazed. I made the mistake the other day to take my husband along with me shopping into the natural foods store – and all less into the cookie aisle! Sadly, my usual method is to have him eat something before we speedily walk through the aisle. He has a large sweet tooth so it is essential. But, at least he walked straight to the vegan cookies and found this great find. The cookie is 4.25 oz. so it is quite a large cookie in size; almost triple the amount of a normal sized cookie. For around $1.95 each, you seriously get a cookie that is larger than my entire adult hand.
One of the first things I noticed about the cookie was that it doesn’t look dry like other vegan cookies. It simply looks like a large dark double chocolate chip cookie. After trying the cookie, we were addicted. The company was right, “Try one now and you’ll not only be convinced, you’ll be addicted!” It tasted just like it looks, which is better than a non-vegan cookie. It tasted just like a normal cookie however there is no sugar rush after eating the entire thing yourself. It is a chocolaty dream come true – it does not compare to other vegan cookies!
Kids love these chocolate cookies also! My four year old niece, a picky eater by heart, tried this cookie after I shamefully bribed her with her favorite food – M&M’s! She loved the cookie so much and forgot about her M&M’s and wanted more of the cookie. Now, I wouldn’t usually use my niece as a test rat however I knew she would love the cookies. I was right and now she calls it her aunt’s special cookies. I’m sure though if she knew it was healthy, she would not eat it.
As expected, all ingredients are natural and some are even organic. I double checked the wrapper after we were finished devouring the cookie and in fact all the ingredients are readable. There are no hidden chemicals. If you would like to find out more about the exact contents please feel free to go to the official site.
The natural food store that we shopped at this week was rather small so we only found the Double Chocolate Decadence Cookie. There are other flavors also such as: Colossal Chocolate Chip, Explosive Espresso Chip, Luscious Lemon Poppy seed, Peanut Butter Persuasion, Phenomenal Pumpkin Spice, Outrageous Oatmeal Raisin, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip and a constantly changing cookie of the season. There are also two wheat-free cookies available in Mac the Chip and Snickerdoodle flavors. If these cookies flavors are anything like the one we had, they are the perfect alternative to the original non-vegan cookie.
For the price, you get a large cookie that has 2 servings per package. Some might complain about the price being a slight bit higher than they prefer however if you purchase any other gourmet cookie, the price is going to be competitive. If purchased online, the cookies are about the same price at $10 per five cookies plus free shipping. It is a fantastic find!
