The psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of health are more difficult to pinpoint than the physical but everything is connected to everything else.
I’m convinced nothing happens by chance. While in El Paso, TX one day, and waiting for an appointment, a man sat down beside me. He said he was a retired doctor and gave me information about Lycium Barbarum, a variety of Wolfberry grown in Tibet, known as Goji in the US and Gouqi in China. He wanted me/us to come to meetings, etc. MLM? No thanks, been there, done that. But, when I got home I researched the item.
Rather than recount all the nutrients in Goji, it’s quicker to give the sources where one can investigate on their own, at their leisure. You have to have access to the Internet. If not, go to the library.
Select Google.com, type in: google answers: chemical composition chart for lycium barbarum. Read it all, it’s impressive. There are many websites with lots of information, one is livesuperfoods.com. I checked prices. MLM came to $150.00 per month using their recommendations. Too steep for me. livesuperfoods.com had the best price I could find when freight and other costs are included. I asked if their product was irradiated, since most foods that come into the US are. I was told ” All our Goji is organic and none is irradiated. If it was irradiated, we wouldn’t touch it.” Irradiated seed has no life force and won’t sprout. We tried sprouting the seed we got, and none sprouted. Draw your own conclusions.
We have a variety of wolfberry that grows wild here, and most wolfberry varieties have similar properties to Goji, so I checked growing conditions for Goji. One exclusively Goji nursery, told me they’re at 6500′ in the Utah Rockies but they also grow Goji in Las Vegas, NV. How green is your thumb?
Because of what we’re told, and never bother to check out, we form opinions having no basis in reason/logic. As humans we’re supposed to be the only animal capable of logic and reason but sometimes one is left wondering.
Another item found that has nutrients that are low or missing in goji, is hemp hearts. “Hemp!! Oh my God, he’s talking about marijuana.” Not so. Personally, I’m not an advocate of marijuana, but hemp is another thing all together. Let’s take a look back in time.
In the early part of the 20th century, William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper Hearst, owned thousands and thousands of acres of timber. Hemp grows 4-1/2 times more biomass per acre that’s suitable for paper than timber and requires no highly poisonous chemicals to process. Nelson Rockefeller had a controlling share in the petrochemical industry. Hemp competes heavily there too. Someone(s) who had clout in the newspaper/timber and petrochemical business, wanted to eliminate the competition. It was easier to demote hemp as marijuana than as something innocuous. Besides, the veil of deception might have been too thin. So, they used the same tactics that are still in practice today. Give the people half truths, or no truths at all, and keep telling them until they believe it. We do that with other humans through dehumanization: they’re too tall, too short, a different color, have a different religion. That allows us to justify treating them as subhuman and we know the rest, like war, etc.
Go back to Google, type in hemphearts.pdf. You should get a six page download of nutritional information. You can also go to healing-source.com. You can find sources that will guarantee the seed is 100% THC free. THC is the drug part of marijuana.
The dumb thing is: we could grow hemp in the US and buy it for one fifth, to one tenth the price. Have you ever bought bulk flax seed, sesame seeds, wheat or barley? When did you pay $10.00 per pound for seed, even hulled seed? Thank you very much, Mr. R and Mr. H. Also involved: the tobacco and alcohol industry and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, to name a few.
Looking into the chemical properties (vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, etc.) of Goji, hemp hearts, flax and sesame seed, one could have a complete supplementation program without pills, unless there’s a specific problem. We’re talking supplementation, not medication.
Hemp grows wild in the US. A friend once told me, “You can smoke a bushel basket full of ditch weed and the only thing you’ll get is a thumping headache.” We’re cutting the forests that provide air to breathe, polluting our water and atmosphere, all because we’ve allowed logic to be derailed.
If it’s possible to hybridize more THC into marijuana, logic tells us it’s also possible to hybridize it out. But, maybe that’s too reasonable.
