Santa Claus will be riding the rails in locations throughout Indiana this Christmas Holiday season. Holiday train excursions and scenic train models are festive events enjoyed by children and adults alike. Following are some holiday and Santa trains in Indiana this season.
Polar Express by Whitewater Valley Railroad. Whitewater Valley Railroad, in partnership with Rail Events. Inc. (through Warner Brothers Entertainment In.) brings the only officially licensed Polar Express event to to the Greater Cincinnati, Dayton and Indianapolis Metro areas. The excursion train is based on the holiday movie, “The Polar Express”, which stars Tom Hanks
The Polar Express departs from Connerville’s Grand Central Station and journeys through the countryside to the “North Pole”. Santa Claus will be on the train to visit with the passengers. Guests will be served hot chocolate and cookies.
The Polar Express pulls into the “North Pole”, Santa Claus and his helpers will be waiting to greet each child. The Polar Express promises to be a memorable event for children. This special holiday train is scheduled to run November 16,17, 23, 24 and 30; December 1 , 3, 7, 8, 9, 14,15, and 16. There will be a total of 25 excursions during the two month period. Santa Train by the Indiana Rail Road. The Santa Train is a Christmas Season gift from the Indiana Rail Road and employees to the people in the towns along the railroad line. The train brings Santa into town. Children and adults have the opportunity to board the train and visit with Santa Claus. Santa brings along some of his friends, including Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Mr. and Mrs. Snowman and Christmas Mouse. The Santa Train is a free event.
Santa Claus Express at Whitewater Valley Railroad on November 23, 2007. Board Santa Claus Express at Grand Central Station in Connersville. Santa will visit with each child on the train.
Christmas Express Whitewater Valley Railroad. Holiday shopping excursion to Metamor in conjunction with Metamora’s annual Christmas Walk. Early reservations are highly recommended as the popular trains have a limited capacity.. The train runs on November 23. 24 and 25; December 1 and 8. Indiana Rail Road Company’s Trainland at White River Gardens at the Indianapolis Zoo. The whole family will enjoy this event, which include colorful holiday plants and flowers. The “O” gauge model trains are interactive, which appeals to the young and young at heart. There are also double-decker “G” scale models on display. Scenic villages and towns enhance the train layouts, along with skaters, miniature cars and interactive elements. The model train display is situated in the southern half of the Conservatory.
Ride the White River Junction Holiday Train and the Indianapolis Zoo. The zoo ground are festively decorated with lights and sculptures depicting holiday and animal scents. See the holiday candy canes, snowflakes, Santa Claus and his reindeer. Victorian carolers add to the holiday atmosphere. Be sure to visit the animals. The Indianapolis Zoo Holiday traditions, which take place from November 30 to December 30, are celebrating their 39th year.
Christmas Express Train, St. John, IN, Part of their 4th annual Christmas in the Park is the Christmas Train. The Christmas Train will operate during Santa’s hours. Santa will be at the park every Saturday and Sunday from November 23 through December 23..
