Is it really every girl’s dream to have a beautiful wedding? I would suppose so. But what if you had a chance of a lifetime to spend your honeymoon on a private island? Would you forsake all those wedding plans, the gorgeous wedding gown, the music and all the festivities? Why not take the money and spend it on a great honeymoon instead? Consider your own private island surrounded by mysterious blue waters and endless skies. Destination: Wadigi Island.
Obviously, first item on your agenda would be to find out how to get there. The journey itself is the beginning of a very romantic adventure. You and your betrothed can be whisked away by a water taxi for $79 or a short 10 minute helicopter ride from Nadi Airport for $240. Flying over the Fiji Islands-a good start to that dream honeymoon. One can also travel to Wadigi by a catamaran ferry or sea plane.
In any case, upon arrival at this five-star resort you will most likely be greeted by hosts, Jim and Tracey Johnston (bottle of champagne in hand I’m sure) along with two private gourmet chefs, a housekeeper, another hostess, there’s a handyman at your disposal and your very own boat captain. So would you like your steak and lobster dinner on the beach under a lacy white umbrella, in your suite overlooking the ocean, near the crystal clear lagoon or on deck? I suppose it never hurts to indulge once in a while.
There really is something to keep a couple occupied 24/7 and every kind of lifestyle is accommodated. For instance, are you one to curl up with your honey and watch a movie, read a good book? No problem, you have a large lounge in your private villa fully equipped with a TV, DVD, stereo, video and a complete library. Not to mention there’s internet access for your convenience. I guess you can brag about your little paradise through email. Other than that you probably won’t have a need to connect to the world outside.
Furthermore, you are the only two guests on the island. You own paradise for a whole week. If you prefer a little adventure, take to the lagoon and go scuba diving or enjoy the beach with all the toys-can you say Jet Ski? Spotting dolphins is always a nice treat or how about a boat trip to the outer reefs? Then again you might prefer to conquer the power of the ocean. Is surfing your passion? No need to bring your own board, it’s all provided, waves included. You could even visit Monuriki Island where Tom Hanks filmed “Castaway.” Don’t forget to bring the video camera and remake your own Wilson scene. It’s just a thought.
Of course, a leisurely walk through three acres of lush gardens would be good for one’s soul as would a dip in your infinity pool. How about a massage while you relax? At any rate, there is so much to do that even one week would not suffice in this paradise.
For your information, Wadigi Island is part of Fiji and is hidden amongst the Mamanuca Islands. The resort has three majestic suites which sit on Wadigi’s cliff with breathtaking ocean views. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets decorate the open sky. Perfect tropical weather allows one to take advantage of the large verandahs equipped with daybeds and sleep under the stars. Imagine that. And would you believe, an outdoor shower, for your convenience, compliments your open-air lifestyle. It’s a complete paradise package offering an unforgettable adventure.
In conclusion, my point then would be to ask if you would spend $2000 a night at this resort. You might indeed have to forego an expensive wedding? However, all is not lost. Wadigi Island recommends their very own extraordinary wedding package. You’ll have to decide whether or not to invite the guests. Remember, you probably won’t want to start a marriage with debt. Maybe a ceremony in front of the judge would be nice after all. That, of course, is entirely up to you. Yet having done a little bit of research about Wadigi Island, would I say yes to the honeymoon and no to the lavish wedding? I think I might.
