The Chicken Halloween costume is a fairly easy Halloween costume for you to make. The Chicken Halloween costume is a quite inexpensive Halloween costume to make because the main basis of the Chicken Halloween costume is a simple white hooded sweat shirt.
The Chicken Halloween costume will take you approximately 1-2 hours to complete, depending on how in depth you wish to go with the Chicken Halloween costume. The rating on the Chicken Halloween costume of difficulty will come in at medium level of difficulty because you will have to do some light sewing to complete the Chicken Halloween costume. The Chicken Halloween costume can be worn by girls as well as boys. The Chicken Halloween costume can be worn by children ages toddlers on up to about age ten.
You will need to acquired some additional things besides the white hooded sweat shirt to complete the Chicken Halloween costume. The following things are needed to complete the Chicken Halloween costume: White hooded sweat shirt, 1/2 yard of red fabric,fiber fill or batting, orange party hat, pencil, needle, thread, scissors, fake feathers (optional, if you choose you can always find a white fake boa and use the feathers off of that), orange gloves, orange pants, white face paint.
Once you have gathered the needed items to complete the Chicken Halloween costume proceed on to Step One.
Step One: First you will need to take your 1/2 a yard of red fabric and fold it over to double it lengthwise. This will give you a total of two pieces once you cut out the needed design.
Step Two: Then you will need to pick up your pencil and make an outline on the red fabric of a zigzag like image.
Step Three: Grab your scissors and you will need to cut out the zigzag image completely. You should have a total of two pieces now.
Step Four: Now you will need to thread your needle with your thread and proceed to sew the two pieces of the zigzag material together.
Step Five: While you are sewing your two pieces together, it is easier to stuff it as you are going along. So take out your fiber fill or batting and stuff the zigzag while you are sewing it up.
Step Six: After you have sewn the red zigzag up you will need to attach it to the top of the hooded white sweat shirt. It needs to be sewed right in the middle of the top of the hooded sweat shirt. Leave some room to sew on the beak of the Chicken costume as well though.
Step Seven: If you chose to add the fake feathers you can do so now by adding them all over the entire white hooded sweat shirt. Take your needle and thread and sew the feathers in place all over the sweat shirt. Again, this step is completely OPTIONAL.
Step Eight: Take the orange party hat and flatten it so that both pieces of the hat are together. Bend the widest part of the party hat a bit so it has a slight curve to it. Take your needle and thread and attach the widest part of the party hat to the edge of the hooded sweat shirt. This should be attached right above the eyebrow area on the hooded sweat shirt. The pointy end should be facing out.
Step Nine: Now you can put on the hooded white sweat shirt on your child.
Step Ten: Then you will need to have your child put on the orange pants and orange gloves.
Step Eleven: Finally you can paint your child’s entire face white with the white face paint.
To make your child’s Chicken Halloween costume a bit more realistic you can always make a basket that resembles an egg. Have fun with your Chicken Halloween costume, it is complete and ready for Halloween.
