How to Make a Kid's Candy Station for a Backyard Party

by wet bin

A kid’s candy station for a backyard party can be a lot of fun to put together. To get started you will need to purchase a nice variety of candy. Try to get everything from chocolate to fruit filled candy. Once you have gathered together all of the candy you think your kids will enjoy at their party, you can put together a fun candy station. So instead of just tossing the candy into a bag, you can arrange them nicely and creatively on the table.

To get started you will need to keep any chocolate candy items separate from the other items. You do not want the candy to melt since it is going to be a backyard party. So you will want to keep the chocolate cool. I have found that the little chocolate bars work well as well as the little M&M’s with a message on them. You can place the M&M’s in a plastic container. You will then want to fill a large bowl with some ice chips. Then in the middle of the bowl you can place the plastic container. The ice should form around the container, and a top should be placed on the container. On top of the ice around the sides you can place the chocolate bars. This will keep the bars from melting and will look nice on the table.

If you are planning on having some lollipops at the party you can use a plastic container for this. Place some colorful ice cubes in the bottom of the container. You can make your own colorful ice cubes, with the use of an ice tray and some food coloring. You will want to make your colorful ice cubes at least two days before the party. Try to use colors that go along with the color scheme for the party. You can just fill a pitcher with water and put the water into the trays. Next you will need a small dropper to place drops of food coloring into the water. Don’t overfill the ice cubes or the colors will mix together. Once you have placed the water into the cubes place the cubes in the refrigerator for about an hour. After an hour you will want to take the lollipops and stick them into the half frozen water. Put them right in the middle of the ice cubes and then place the tray back into the refrigerator. After two days you should have some nicely frozen ice cubes that will last for most of the party. You will want to make additional cubes that you can place onto the bottom of the container. On the top layer you will want to put the ice cubes that have the lollipops in them. Since this is an outdoor summer party the cubes should melt by the end of the party. This way as the kids get ready to leave they can each grab a lollipop out of the bucket. If the cubes are not completely melted don’t worry about it. The kids will find it fun to hold the cubes and you can just hand out some handy wipes. This is a simple and fun way to decorate any table with candy for a kid’s party.
