As someone who has been enjoying aromatherapy for quite some time and has even put together an aromatherapy website I have discovered that whether you are an avid practitioner of aromatherapy or an aromatherapy newbie one of the things you are going to need is an aromatherapy diffuser to disperse your essential oils into the air. An aromatherapy diffuser circulates the fragrances of the oils throughout your surroundings allowing you to breathe in the oil vapors and experience their benefits. The pleasant atmosphere created promotes relaxation, stress relief and other health benefits depending on the type of essential oil you are using.
There are several types of aromatherapy diffusers readily available and that you can buy such as lamp rings, fan diffusers, electric heat diffusers and nebulizers. However, if you are not quite ready to invest in one of these commercially available aromatherapy diffusers or you just want to try a home-made version here are a couple of ideas that will not take a lot of time for you to put together. These are simple to do and use items most likely already in your home.
The first method of making a home-made aromatherapy diffuser is probably the easiest way to circulate your essential oil into the air and that is by using a jarred candle. All you have to do is burn a candle until there is a good amount of wax melted in the jar. A quarter of an inch of melted wax in a 4 inch jarred candle should be adequate and can also be used as a guide for other sized candles that you may have.
Once the wax is melted it is time for you to go ahead and add your essential oil. Five drops is probably enough, but you can experiment to find what potency is suitable for you. Be careful, however, when adding the oil to the candle because essential oils are flammable so keep away from the flame. After you add the essential oil the heat from the candle then evaporates the oil and circulates it into the air.
Another quick and easy way to make a home-made aromatherapy diffuser is by using a glass bowl about ten inches in diameter. The bowl should also be deep and not shallow. You will need to boil some water for this method and then pour it into the bowl so that it is about halfway full.
You then put 8-10 drops of your chosen essential oil into the hot water. The heat from the hot water will disperse the essential oil fragrance throughout the room. As you can see this is a very easy way to make a home-made aromatherapy diffuser and it can be ready to go in about ten minutes.
Both of these home-made aromatherapy diffusers are very portable and allow you to enjoy aromatherapy essential oils wherever you want too. Be sure to experiment with the different varieties of essential oils. There is an entire spectrum of aromas available for you to explore. Start by considering what health benefits you are looking for and then choosing an aromatherapy essential oil that is known to provide them.
