Have you ever worked in a job you hate? Are you at present working in a job that does not give you much satisfaction? Than this article is for you. Many of us have to work jobs we hate before we find a job or career we love. In this article I offer tips to help you cope with a job you don’t really care much about.
Set a goal
If you find yourself in a job you hate than set a gaol that will get you out of that job. If you have not picked a career or maybe you are in between the type of job you really care about. A career is different than a job. A career is something we usually choose to do and a job is something we do. Many people will do jobs they hate as long as they are working toward a career like going to school or taking classes online. As long as you have a goal in mind it helps to keep you focused.
In every job there are tasks that you like to do from tasks you hate. Divide up your tasks throughout your day so that after doing a task you hate you can do a task you like. Try to make the job fun. If some tasks are assigned to other employees that they don’t like and you like to do ask your manager or boss if you can trade. Tasks that seem to make time go quickly are sometimes the way to go.
Post for other jobs
If your employer has a posting system post for other jobs you would enjoy doing. If you know you are qualified and would enjoy doing it than post for it. Each employer has job qualifications and posting requirements just make sure you qualify. Other jobs in the company are treated just like if you were coming off the street you will have to have an interview for the new job posting. On the day of the interview be prepared to answer the managers questions and reasons why you would be a good candidate for the position.
Ask your boss for more responsibility
If your bored or in a job you hate sometimes if you discuss your qualifications with your boss you can ask for more responsibility. If your always on time and do a good job your boss would have you in mind when more opportunities become available. Retail jobs are good for this you can transfer into other departments that offer more of challenge.
Look for another job
If your in a job you hate keep looking don’t settle for less. Many people stay in jobs they hate and don’t even try to move on to something better. If the economy is slow jobs are scarce but that still doesn’t mean you have to stop looking. As long as you never give up you will eventually reach your goal. You are never too old to find something you like to do.
