Modern life has many distinct advantages over the challenges of life in the days of yore. One of the definitions of modern life is access to information.
Hasn’t the existence of info and our ability to access same helped define this nation? Aren’t we AC folks accessing and disseminating info at an astounding rate? And now that we as a nation have gotten used to the availability of information, don’t we go sorta ballistic when our ISP goes down? I know I do!
Any such discussion on this topic requires an acceptance that government actually controls the flow of information. If government could slam closed the lid on new information, and they chose to do so, how would such an act effect our nation?
Hasn’t the historical, though no longer the case, situation been that media is the Fourth Estate? The watchdogs of the public on the machinations of government? And when they fail to do their jobs, isn’t it we the citizenry who suffer the most? And found in our suffering this condition government is able to do as they wish completely disregarding the wishes of the public.
Now let’s add in Obama’s campaign rhetoric about his administration being “the most transparent in American history.” Are his stump speeches on this topic being manifest in his Administration? Transparency, huh? Let’s see.
I maintain this is the antithesis of transparency. This administration is the Black Hole of political administrations. So strong is their control of the flow of information that not even light escapes their grasp. Are they Heavenly bodies generating their own gravity? Or are they just smooth talkers who have so ingratiated themselves they can do anything they wish, including shutting down the free flow of information?
When Bush was President there was a lot made of his somewhat adversarial relationship with the press. But when we view the treatment by the press of Mr. Bush we can see why they weren’t bosom buddies. The press seemed to view Bush as their enemy. Why?
Because the first of the outright open and unabashed fawning of Liberal politics in media became glaringly pronounced during the 2000 election turmoil. It got much worse in the 2004 election. So if Bush wasn’t bending over backward to welcome the press with open arms, who could blame him? I mean, if nearly every time one were to see me they denigrated me almost exclusively, would I give them the time of day? No Sir!
However the Obama situation is entirely different. The press welcomed him with open arms. A cable network went so far as to call themselves the “network of this generation” or some such.
And now we enjoy what we see today. The media’s complete acceptance of Obama, sans any real journalistic integrity, are contributing to the mess and allowing the Obama/Rahm Emanuel management of information. Since the press loves them so much they get a pass.
Isn’t ABC going to broadcast from the White House Wednesday night? They are pushing the Obama health care agenda quite openly, and have refused to accept paid advertising from those opposed to this foolishness. No, no agenda there. Nothing to see here. Move along folks!
We have arrived at the nexus of campaign rhetoric of new & different and change, the mainstream media going along for the ride and completely sacrificing their duty as the Fourth Estate and the result being Obama is not at all transparent in his operational running of this most “transparent administration in history.”
This is not transparency. It is the black hole of informational dissemination. Control the flow of info and you can control the world. Every totalitarian regime on the planet knows the first thing to do is seize the dissemination and access to info. Letting out what helps your case and squashing what doesn’t is clearly controlling the flow of info, no?
If we were to put aside the rhetoric and stump speeches Obama still delivers and examine only the evidence, indeed something does not seem right. When your gut tells you something is wrong, isn’t your gut usually right to some degree, if not totally so?
Fear is an innate Human response for a reason – to protect us. Fear of the words of a leader who is not what they claimed is every bit as reasonable as to fear an angry mother bear who has you in her sights – both can really mess up your whole afternoon as well as being potentially fatal.
I fear what I see because what I see does not match what they keep telling me. Why? History points to something rotten going on just out of public view. Clearly the concepts they claimed are not what we are seeing. Is this just me?
Or is this what I think it is? A monumental effort to pass as much of the agenda as possible before the party in power loses the majorities they know will come as a result of all this?
AUTHOR’S NOTE: I was not trying to prove any contention, but merely to ask if others see the same things I do, and if so, is my fear of what I see potentially as dangerous as it seems?
