On July 21, at midnight British standard time, J.K. Rowling will be meeting 1,000 lucky fans that won a contest to meet her and see her read from the final Harry Potter book, ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, at London’s Natural History Museum. Now Bloomsbury, the UK publisher of the Harry Potter books, has announced that fans all over the world will be able to see J.K.Rowling read from the book at this special appearance via a live webstream.
The live webstream of J.K. Rowling reading from ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ will begin exactly at 12:01 a.m., July 21, the exact time the book is released in the UK. This will be particularly exciting for Harry Potter fans in the US because the east coast of the US is five hours behind the UK. This means that at 5pm on the US east coast and 2pm on the west coast fans can go online and get a taste of the book, hours before it is made available in the US. This will surely be a huge tease for these fans and no doubt get them even more excited about the release of the book at midnight in the US.
This special event to celebrate the launch of the final Harry Potter book allows J.K. Rowling to share the book in a way she very much enjoys, with her readers.
The event which is taking place in London at the Natural History Museum is completed booked up, meaning that the only opportunity to see this rare reading by J.K. Rowling is to watch it on the Bloomsbury website. Fans don’t need to worry if they miss the live stream of the event at 12:01 BST as Bloomsbury have said that the event will be available for fans to view on their website for two weeks after the live event.
The second event just announced by Bloomsbury is a live chat with J.K. Rowling that will take place online on July 30th from 2 to 2pm BST. Harry Potter fans will be able to submit their questions from one week before the event and on the day. J.K. Rowling will then be online on July 30th to answer as many questions as possible.
The final book in the Harry Potter series goes on sale at midnight around the world on July 21st. The audio version of the book in the US and the UK will also go on sale at the same time. This is the first time the UK audio book has been released on the same day as the book. Bookstores around the world will be hosting Potter Parties with tons of fun Harry Potter themed activities in the final hours before the book is made available.
