Of all the great restaurants in the large city of Pittsburgh, PA, Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36 sets a new standard for the sports fan. According the Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36 website the restaurant features over 50 high definition plasma and LCD televisions! Most of them have a different game on at any given time. A diner can watch European soccer on the left, American football on the right, and possibly see a baseball game straight ahead. Owner Jerome Bettis certainly spared no expense when it came to the sports minded decor. Above all else, every screen is clean and thanks to the high definition, crystal clear.
If the fun stopped at the television, that would be enough. However, this is restaurant and the food gets center stage treatment as well. In the tradition of grilles, Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36 serves up burgers, sandwiches, steaks, and pastas. Some of the best burgers and sandwiches in town. The portions are generous, after all this is “The Bus'” place after all. Do not expect the prices to be large though, most of the sandwiches are available for under ten dollars. The menu can be previewed on the Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36 website.
The Grille serves up 36 different beers, 36 different wines, and 36 different specialty drinks and martinis. You would think someone had a fetish for that number. Of course all Pittsburghers and Steeler fans know, Jerome Bettis wore number 36 during his Hall of Fame career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They carry that theme throughout the restaurant and it works beautifully. Any gentlemen visiting the place will get a special treat when visiting the mens room, and getting a first hand look at the see through mirror in the mens room.
The service is professional, efficient, and completely satisfying. The staff is very polite, and eager to take orders and assist in anyway that they can. Perhaps that level of dedication comes from working so close to Heinz Field, which is right across the street.
After your meal you can take a stroll up and down the shore, as the North Shore trail is just a few steps away. Parking is not a problem as the Heinz Field stadium lot is right here, unless of course there happens to be a football game. In which case, I would advise you to stay home unless you like a crowd.
Jerome Bettis Grille 36 is open daily from 11:00 am, and earlier to accommodate home football games. The restaurant is located at 393 North Shore Drive in the Del Monte Building right across from Heinz Field. Reservations are not required, but if you have a large group you may want to call ahead to optimize seating arrangements. The host or hostess will be able to take care of all your needs.
If you are a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, or a sports fan in general, Jerome Bettis’ Grille 36 is definitely worth checking out. They have the complete restaurant package: great food, great prices, and an unbeatable atmosphere. This is one place, worth going to over and over. Also a very special treat for the family. The Bus knew what he was doing here, and it shows.
