If your idea of a delicious lunch involves either Quizno’s or Subway, you have got to head over to Jersey Mike’s Subs in Oklahoma City. Beware, though; the tasty sandwich shop may well be your newest lunchtime hangout.
Jersey Mike’s Subs in Oklahoma City
Being a sandwich junkie, I was surprised to learn that there was a national sandwich chain that I’d never heard of in a city I was currently residing in. I usually sniff these things out. When I heard about the highly rated sub shop, I knew I had to check it out. As the name implies, Jersey Mike’s Subs originated in New Jersey, in 1956. The chain is now open in 26 states. With a focus on the simple things, like quality, Jersey Mike’s Subs offers some of the most amazing sandwiches.
Though the Jersey Mike’s Subs in Oklahoma City is located in a less than stellar location, the restaurant is well maintained. The bright and happy restaurant features simple décor and about 20 tables. The staff was friendly and busy: a team of about 5 working harmoniously to deliver delicious sandwiches and salads. We placed our order at the counter, and then took a seat, while they delivered our sandwiches.
Per my usual, I ordered a simple and healthier option that included a leaner meat (ham), cheese (provolone) and cappacuolo (though I still have no idea what that is). I got mine “Mike’s Way”, which included onions, lettuce, tomatoes, red wine vinegar, olive oil blend and spices. The sandwich was great. Since I usually get turkey or ham (instead of the more delicious and fattening meats like steak of salami) my biggest problem with sandwiches is flavor. At Jersey Mike’s Subs in Oklahoma City, I needn’t have worried. “Mike’s Way” is a flavorful addition to the basic sub. My husband ordered the Big Kahuna Cheese Steak, which featured delicious steak, melted provolone, mushrooms and jalapenos. One bite convinced me that we needed to come back soon so I could get my own Kahuna, extra calories and all.
Jersey Mike’s Subs in Oklahoma City also has wraps and salads, and they cater.
Jersey Mike’s Subs is a pricier restaurant, with 2 combos totaling just under $20. Though more expensive than Quizno’s or Subway, Jersey Mike’s Subs in Oklahoma City is well worth the visit. Plus, they have a ‘buy 6, get 1 free’ Sub card.
