I have eaten at Johnny Carino’s many times and have never been disappointed.
Johnny Carino’s Country Italian Villa is a great place to go for delicious Italian food. There is hardly ever a wait, (you can call ahead for seating on busy days, Friday and Saturday nights) The service is always friendly, fast and attentive. Plus there is an array of feel in the restaurant. You can sit at a table, in a booth or get a private table behind canopy curtains. The kitchen is open to view the chefs creating your mouth watering entrees.
There is a large menu to chose from. You can order your meals in single portions or Grandiosso style, which serves two to four people. They have a kids menu, with quite a few selections, a big kids menu, (with slightly larger portions as well as a build-your-own pizza) they also have a gluten free menu. The prices are fair, ranging from $8.00 up to $20.00.
When you sit down you get some of the best Italian bread I have ever tasted. The server mixes olive oil and balsamic vinegar to dip your bread in, I would suggest asking for another plate and adding cheese to one while leaving the other one plain. Another good flavor for the bread is if you ask for some pesto. They don’t charge for it, some of the best pesto ever.
I would suggest starting off with the Italian Nachos. You can get chicken, sausage or a combination of both. It comes with pasta chips, (I think they look and taste like fried won-ton wraps.) olives, tomatoes, pepperoncinis, jalapenos, alfredo and mozzarella. This appetizer is my favorite. It is quite large and filling though. Sometimes we go just to get this. For a lighter appetizer I suggest the bruschetta, this is amazingly flavorful.
For the main course I would suggest getting the Bowtie Festival. I order it with the Spicy Romano sauce and add artichokes to it, this adds a little more flavor and compliments the dish perfectly. It comes with bacon, garlic, tomatoes and red onions. I have tried it with the asiago cream sauce as well, in my opinion it makes the dish taste a little bland.
Another one of my favorites is the Timballo. You can order this with chicken, sausage or a combination of both. I suggest getting the combination. It comes on a skillet with spaghetti noodles, onions, peppers and baked mozzarella cheese on top. This dish is wonderful.
Their salads are always fresh with crispy greens, my favorite is the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad. It is a spinach salad with bacon, tomatoes, onions as well as onion strings, gorgonzola cheese and a vinaigrette dressing. This salad is tasty. Very good if you want something a little lighter, or if you started out with the Italian Nachos.
All of the dishes at Johnny Carino’s are simply delicious. The service is great, the atmosphere can cater to any occasion, the music sets the mood to make your dining experience at Johnny Carino’s one you will very much enjoy.
