With a 99.9 percent chance that Jon and Kate Gosselin’s special announcement on the special episode of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ set to air on June 22nd, the tabloids and the public are soaking in what could be the last few days of drama from the couple. Among the current news stories following the couple are a trip to the emergency room, Jon Gosselin shopping for a Donald Trump bachelor pad, and Jon Gosselin spending Father’s Day alone with the kids.
So why did little Aeden, one of the sextuplets, have to be rushed to the emergency room? This question has not been answered yet, and may never be, if neglectful parenting was in part to blame for the incident. However, paparazzi captured he and his Papa leaving the emergency room, lollipop in hand, so it could have been anything from a bump on the head to a sprained ankle or a small cut that required stitches. When you’ve got eight kids, I guess it’s just a given that you’ll wind up with one of them in the emergency room at one point.
Other recent news surrounding the couple before their big announcement is that Jon Gosselin spent Father’s Day alone with the kids (which is really no surprise, considering that he was out partying with friends on his wife’s birthday). Jon Gosselin, who many have seen to be the “good guy” on the show over the years it has been on the air, was also reportedly seen out on what appeared to be a date with 23-year-old Hailey Glassman, the daughter of Kate Gosselin’s tummy tuck surgeon, a few weeks back. Before that, he was rumored to be in an intimate relationship with 23-year-old schoolteacher Deanna Hummel.
So if ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ finally does go off the air after their big announcement, perhaps a new reality show could be created around the new life of Jon Gosselin and aired on Spike TV, all about him living it up and partying with these young women in his new bachelor pad. It could be called ‘Jon Without Kate Staying Out Late’, or ‘Jon Plus 8 Out Late’, where he goes out on a date with eight young women ‘Elimidate’ or ‘Next’ style. With no job and no ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’, he’s going to have to make money somehow.
But Jon Gosselin hasn’t been the only one under fire recently (of course). A picture of Kate Gosselin spanking one of the sextuplets, Leah, made the cover of InTouch magazine, sparking yet another online debate on whether or not spanking is okay. (In my opinion, it’s not. Take it from a kid who was spanked; it never stopped me from getting in trouble over and over again.) Then there’s that video of Kate denying Maddy water before an interview, but taking a big swig of it herself. In other words, things have gotten incredibly ugly and might continue to get uglier if these two stay in the spotlight.
The sad thing about all of this is, after Jon and Kate make their big announcement and it is, indeed, that they are getting a divorce, their future prospects look very dull. If they try to keep the show going after a divorce, they might lose viewers after all the drama dies down. Jon Gosselin hasn’t been working and Kate has been living off of the fame of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8’ by releasing books and making public appearances, but if the shows goes, so will that source of income. The couple is used to having money, despite the penny-pinching showcased on the show, and the only way to keep the money rolling in is to stay on TV.
So don’t be too surprised after this is all over to see each side of the couple get their own reality show spinoff. I guess their kids might grow up with some issues, but at least they’ll have money, and that’s what really matters, right, Jon and Kate?
