Sloppy Joes Bar New Year’s Eve Conch Shell Drop
Sloppy Joes Bar has been a Key West fixture since 1933, and has been at its current location on the corner of Greene and Duval Streets since 1937. This New Years Eve Sloppy Joe’s Bar will ring in the New Year with their 15th annual Queen Conch Shell Drop at midnight. The six foot Queen Conch Shell is synchronized with the clock and lights while dropping twenty feet from atop the roof of Sloppy Joes Bar, and as midnight strikes to giant six foot tall bottles of champagne, also located on the roof of the bar, pop spraying confetti down onto the onlookers located on the ground to welcome in the new year. The crowd usually begins gathering at Sloppy Joe’s Bar around 10 PM to witness the dropping of the Conch Shell, and a rooftop host entertains the crowd until the drop begins. For those who are not able to attend the New Years Eve Conch Shell Drop in person Sloppy Joe’s Bar’s live video stream on their website will show the Conch Shell Drop online.
