My latest find is L.A. Colors Expressions Lip Palette. I purchased it at my local Dollar Tree store for that bargain price again.
It comes in a hanging package with a clear front so that you can see the 10 lip colors and the brush for applying them. I couldn’t wait to get home and open it up.
The palette looks just like an artist’s palette, as it is clear plastic, and you can see right through it. There are 2 lines of 5 lip colors, that are half an inch long, and a third of an inch wide. Then at the front of these is the lip brush. The lip brush has a plastic top on it to protect the brush.
I opened up the palette by lifting up the clear lip at the front top of the palette. The name of the palette is BLP80 – Tempting. The colors go from a light peach color, to brown colors, to burnt red colors. When you look at them they look so creamy. I couldn’t wait to try them.
From the back of the packaging:
“Long lasting rich color
Conditions and moisturizes
10 beautifully combined colors that go on creamy smooth for long lasting wear. Wear an individual shade or combine colors for a variety of looks.
To use: Using the applicator, sweep one of two colors across your upper and lower lip in a side to side motion. Re-apply as needed.”
The first time I used them I went for a peach and a burnt red color and took some of both on the brush. I then brushed it across my top lip. I took the same colors for the lower lip. I can’t tell you how creamy and moist my lips felt. It was like wearing a moisture lip balm. The colors came up paler than they looked in the palette. The color was really pretty and feminine. I suffer with dry lips, living in Floria with the temperatures in the 90’s and the heat index over 100, so I need a product that really does moisturize my lips.
I didn’t eat or drink for 30 minutes, and then I looked in the mirror to check on the lip color. To my surprise it looked darker and a matt, not a shiny finish. This disappointed me. I reapplied the darker of the two shades I had chosen. Again my lips felt wonderful and there was some shine.
About an hour later I had a cup of decaffeinated coffee, and my lipstick came off on the cup. I had very little left on my lips, but again the moisture remained.
At the end of the day there really wasn’t any lip color left to take off so I ignored my lips when I did my makeup remover.
This would be a fun product for tweens or teenage girls. They would have fun with the cute palette, all the colors, being able to mix them, and they wouldn’t worry about the staying power. I have to say that I have enjoyed the product, but with so many touch ups, the tiny containers of lip color have all gone. I am glad that it was only $1 as I would not be prepared to pay more for this product.
I would love to get a dozen of these and give them to my daughter, for when my 10 year old grand-daughter has her 11th birthday party. They would be great for the party bags.
