Everyday websites are being built and everyday webhosting companies are being created to stand against the ever growing supply and demand. Most people want a webhosting company that is reliable and easy on the pockets and Lunarpages has proven to be a webhosting company that excercise these options very well.
Before I switched virginiaslimsworld over to squarespace, I was experimenting with Lunarpages and for what its worth, Its decent. Lunarpages offers unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space for $4.95. Of course, you have to buy a hosting plan for one or two years. This can be a turn off because no one wants to be locked down with a company for that long. Being able to have the freedom to move on if you aren’t happy makes buying a lot easier. So in a way, I think that this deal is walking a thin line between being good and being ridiculous. You really can’t find too many other web hosting companies that offer so much for so little money, though. They also give you your first domain name for free, which is good for a lifetime.
Lunarpages offers ping-tools which can be used to contact another website. It also allows you to find out your search engine saturation and how many pages on your website have been indexed. Lunarpages also has a link popularity checker to help you figure out how many inbound links your website just might have. But the main webmaster tool that I found interesting was the free deluxe keyword density tool. we all know that keywords are important when building a website. This tool allows you to see which keywords are most used on your website.
The thing that you have to always consider before opting to sign up is how good the webhosting’s uptime is. Lunarpages uptime is claimed to be 99.9%. When Lunarpages hosted my website, I found a lot of the times my site was down. This caused me to lose alot of my clients and eventually I ended up moving on. I also had a lot of trouble learning the interface of Lunarpages.Normally I’m used to using WYSIWYG software and most of the time everything is spelled out for you. I didn’t find that with Lunarpages. At the time I was a newbie when it came to website building so working with Lunarpages was a bit confusing for me. I wouldn’t recommend Lunarpages for someone who is just starting out.
I don’t like the fact that Lunarpages doesn’t supply you with rss feeds for your website. I believe that any website dealing with content should have an rss feeds button of some kind.
I will say that Lunarpages provides their clients with excellent customer service. Out of all the webhosting companies I’ve been with, Lunarpages is top notch. They are available to help you with all of your questions 24-7 and they never leave a question unanswered. I’ve never been helped by a rude or unknowledgable customer service rep and that was what kept me around for as long as I was.
I wouldn’t consider Lunarpages to be a shabby webhosting company. I would recommend anyone to try them. If you strongly believe that customer service is the essence of any company then Lunarpages just might be the webhosting company for you.
