Come out, come out, wherever you are! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, and during the entire month of October I seek out the best events on Long Island. However one event comes straight to me, seeing how I work on Main Street in Center Moriches, I am usually aware of street events before the general public. Last year one very special street event took place right on Main Street in Center Moriches; The March Of The Goblins.
This event is not just dedicated to parents and children, its dedicated to the entire town, and the merchants on the street. You see, the best decorated merchant window also is given a prize. Suh-weet! If I only knew this last year, we would have been guaranteed winners, seeing how I have every prop from fake coffins to decapitated bodies… anyhow…
Just what is the March Of The Goblins?
It is a 1 hour event that usually gets stretched into a 2-3 hour event, and this year it will be taking place on October 30th 2007 from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. On this lovely night children and parents can dress up in their costumes to participate in a walk of trick-or-treating. Every local merchant in town opens their doors and hands out candy to the children. Some places even set up booths on the sidewalk and hand out candy. The one hour event is a fun and safe way for children to go trick-or-treating.
Last year was a blast, and I watched as zombies, ghosts, witches, princesses, monsters, and vampires came in loads to collect candy. Parents are all smiles as well.
Some places decorate their windows with Halloween paintings to let you know they are giving out candy, while other merchants will put signs on windows stating ‘candy here’, and some will be outside; like I said. Mostly though, everyone will be outside enjoying the atmosphere.
Our store gave out 1,000 pieces of candy last year in less than an hour. This truly is a popular event the whole family can enjoy, so come on down this year!
Over 1,000 children participated last year in the March Of The Goblins, and every kid walks away with a bucket full of safe candy. My niece and nephew who participated in The March Of The Goblins loved it, as they collected candy, and caught up with friends from school. The event is free, so really there is no reason not to attend.
Don’t miss out!
The event is located right in Main Steet (Center Moriches, Long Island 11934), there is no particular starting point, you simply walk the kids up and down each side of the road and collect candy.
